Premier League side Crystal Palace has sacked manager Patrick Vieira after 18 months in charge of the south London club.
Palace are winless in 2023 and remain 12th in the table – but have picked up only eight points in 13 league games since the World Cup break.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Chairman Steve Parish said: “It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made.
“Ultimately, results in recent months have placed us in a precarious league position and we felt a change is necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status.”
Despite the standing, the club remains only three points clear of the relegation zone and have played one game more than 18th-placed Bournemouth and 19th-placed Leeds.
