01-04-2022 Daily Predictions Super Rugby Pacific Fijian Drua Vs Waratahs

Fijian Drua vs Waratahs

There will be revenge on the minds of the Fijian Drua when they take on the Waratahs after they were crushed 40-10 in the first match of the season by the same opponent. The Drua have since picked up their first win and had two narrow losses. The Waratahs will be stratching their heads on how they lost to the Reds in the last match. They played for almost twenty minutes against 13 men and still struggled to score. When the Reds returned to 15 men they easily ran out winners. The Waratahs will welcome back Izaia Perese and Angus Bell as they were sorely missed in the last match.

TIP: The Drua remain an enigma in Super Rugby as they can blow hot and cold several times in a match. In all their matches they have given the opposition huge leads before they started playing their style of rugby. They love throwing the ball around and off-loading which makes them so dangerous but seem to leave it too late before playing this way. The Waratahs will have Wallabies skipper Michael Hooper on the bench for his first match in Australia since 2020. The bookies have the Waratahs as favourites but I am going for the upset Fijian Drua win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting 4.20, Playabets 4.20 and Sunbet 3.20.

Fijian Drua vs Waratahs

  • The Waratahs won the only other meeting between these sides.

Latest results for both teams

The Fijian Drua lost 42-27 to the Rebels in their last match while the Waratahs lost 32-20 to the Reds in their last match.

The Waratahs have the much stronger pack especially at scrum time and the Drua’s biggest weakness is the scrum. The Fijians have one of the form players in the competition in wing Vinaya Habosi and he looks unstoppable with ball in hand. The Waratahs have their own wrecking ball in Izaia Perese who always gets them over the advantage line. His partnership with Lalakai Foketi could turn the match in the Waratahs favour. The man that they will be facing head on is Kalaveti Ravouvou and this contest could be one of the highlights of the match. I predict an upset win by the Fijians by three points.

Predictions and Odds in details

The Waratahs will look to use their forwards as much as possible to break through the Drua defence. They will rely on penalties at scrum time therefore the Fijians should try and avoid many set pieces. The Waratahs have an exceptionally strong bench in this match so the Drua need a lead going into the final quarter of the match. They will need to start this match much better than they have in the past. There are great returns on the Drua upset win but if you looking for a value safety bet then I suggest the Drua on the handicap. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting (+8.5) 1.90, Sunbet (+8.5) 1.92 and Playabets (+8.5) 1.92
