02-10-2021 Daily Predictions United Rugby Championship Glasgow Warriors vs Sharks

Glasgow Warriors vs Sharks

The Sharks will be keen to improve on their last showing where the team didn’t pitch up to play rugby. They were passive in all areas and the good news is that they can’t be any worse than they were against Munster. The Warriors also lost their match against Ulster but put on a brave display and in the end they received a losing bonus point. They looked excellent with ball in hand and their off-loading game was brilliant. They look like a team that loves running the ball and if the Sharks don’t defend well then they could be in for another thumping loss. The Sharks looked in utter disarray in the last match when they had the ball. The first 15 minutes they had all the possession but scored no points. The signing of Ruan Pienaar was meant to help the team but was a disaster in the first match and they will be hoping for a better performance from the veteran.

TIP: The home team always plays a high tempo ball in hand game and we could be in for an exciting match as the Sharks also enjoy running the ball. The halfbacks of the Warriors have experience with Duncan Weir and George Horne running the show. Both these players have an eye for the gap and Horne in particular has great pace. The Sharks have Boeta Chamberlain at 10 and his inexperience showed as he lacked the composure to control the game. He also failed to spark any of the Sharks backline plays. There has to be an improvement in the Sharks attack because it’s useless having loads of possession without scoring. The bookies have the Warriors as favourites and I am also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows:  Worldsportsbetting 1.25, Playabets 1.24 and Sunbet 1.23

HEAD TO HEAD STATS

Glasgow Warriors vs Sharks

  • This is the first meeting between these sides.
  • Latest results for both teams

Glasgow lost their last match to Ulster 35-29 while the Sharks lost to Munster 42-17 in their last match.

PREDICTION

Sharks are a very unpredictable side and seldom have two poor games consecutively. On the basis of this I expect them to come out strong in the opening quarter. They need to better use their outside backs and showed that they can score tries when they use their speedy wings Yaw Penxe and Thaakir Abrahams. Glasgow is superb at keeping the ball alive and they will want to continue their brilliant off-loading game. It makes defending against this very difficult. The hard work will start up front and the forward pack that can lay a good platform for their team to attack from will win this match. I think both teams look quite evenly match but I feel the warriors at home will win this tight contest by less than 10 points.

Predictions and Odds in details

The Sharks must look to attack Glasgow in the forwards as they do seem to have a weaker pack than the Sharks. There will be some interesting head to head match ups but the battle between the 8s, Jack Dempsey and Phepsi Buthelezi stands out. Dempsey will be keen to stamp his mark after recently arriving from the Waratahs in Australia. Buthelezi looked much better in the last match and the Sharks will be hoping that their Captain can lead from the front. Curwin Bosch is another player that has seen his form dip and if he can be more confident and run the ball from the back then that will create more opportunities for the Sharks dangerous wingers. The bookies are not offering great returns on the Glasgow outright. As I expect this match to be close my suggestion is to back the Sharks on the handicap. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting (+8.5) 1.90, Sunbet (+9.5) 1.87 and Playabets (+9.5) 1.84
