Ospreys vs Sharks
The Ospreys and the Sharks meet in a landmark clash at the Twickenham Stoop. This will be the first ever URC match that will be played in London. The Sharks will be desperate for a win after suffering defeat in their first two matches of the season. The Ospreys recorded their first win of the campaign when they beat Zebre 34-31. Both teams are still missing a large contingent of first team regulars who are fulfilling national team duties. The side from Durban have looked poor in both attack and defence with handling errors proving to be most costly.
TIP: The word from both coaches is that their teams are looking to entertain and play an expansive game of rugby. This will be refreshing to see as the Sharks in particular have loads of talent in their backline. The Ospreys were hit with further selection problems as a large number of players are also involved in the Barbarians match as well. The Sharks will be looking to their heavy forward pack to lay the platform for their backs to attack from. The bookies have the Sharks as favorites and I’m also tipping them for the win. HEAD-TO-HEAD STATS
Ospreys vs Sharks
- The Sharks have won the previous two meeting between the sides.
Latest results for both teams
Ospreys beat Zebre 34-31 in their last match while the Sharks lost 34-13 to Leinster in their last match.
PREDICTION
The Sharks have looked good in patches of their matches but will be looking for a full eighty-minute performance. They need flyhalf Curwin Bosch to stop kicking as much and rather use his potent backline that includes the likes of powerhouse center Rohan Janse van Rensburg and speedsters Aphelele Fassi and Aphiwe Dyantyi. The Ospreys have also struggled with cohesion in their backline and will be sweating on the fitness on winger Mat Protheroe who scored a sensational try in the last match. The neutral venue and more experience of the Sharks side makes me predict a 10 point for the Durban side.
