Australia vs Wales
Two teams in a rebuilding phase meet when Australia entertain Wales in Sydney. The home team have selected a total of seven debutants for this match while the visitors have made a shock selection at flyhalf. This will be the first match in charge for Wallabies boss Joe Schmidt. The much travelled coach has proven himself around the rugby world and will no doubt bring stability to the home side. Wales will be looking to improve on the hammering they received two weeks ago at the hands of the Springboks when they went down 52-17.
TIP: The biggest shock in the visitor’s camp is the selection of Tom Jordan in the ten jersey. The Cardiff man has only started once in this position in his club career. The Wallabies will be targeting Jordan as he has an equally inexperienced inside centre in Mason Grady. Grady is great going forward but his defence is yet to be tested at this level. The likes of Josh Flook and Hunter Paisami will be giving him plenty of defensive duties. The bookies have the Aussies as favorites and I am also backing them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Tictacbets 1.18, Playabets 1.18 and Bettabets 1.18
HEAD-TO-HEAD STATS
Australia vs Wales
- Wales have won four of the last five matches between the sides.
- The last time Australia lost at home to Wales was in 2014.
Latest results for both teams
Australia beat Portugal 34-14 in their last match while Wales were beaten 41-13 by the Springboks in their last match.
PREDICTION
The Wallabies have kept a number of combinations together from their clubs like the centre pairing of Flook and Paisami which will help with continuity. Noah Lolesio has been given another opportunity to secure the flyhalf position after being dropped last year in favour of Carter Gordon who has now committed to rugby league. Wales selection shows that they are looking to the future but they will need big games from the likes of Aaron Wainwright and Tommy Reffell. They are among the more experienced players in this team and they are excellent at disruption opposition ball at the rucks. I am predicting an Aussie victory by more than 15 points.

Sports crazy fan that follows all major sport but the game with the oval ball is my real passion. Was an age level rugby coach and a huge supporter of the Springboks and diehard Liverpool man. I’m an experienced punter and sports writer whose predictions/tips are sure to stir up the emotions. I love the occasional wager on the underdog.
