08-01-2023 Daily Predictions United Rugby Championship Glasgow Warriors vs Stormers

Glasgow vs Stormers

Glasgow are on cloud nine after downing their Scottish rivals Edinburgh over the past two matches and in the process reclaiming the 1872 Cup. They will however be facing a much sterner test when they welcome the defending champions Stormers to the Scotstoun Stadium. The visitors are also coming off two impressive victories over their fellow South African franchises. In the only previous encounter between the sides the Stormers easily beat the Scottish side 32-7 and the home team will no doubt want to return the favour. Glasgow are unbeaten at home this season so the visitors will need to be at their best if they are to win.

TIP: It will be interesting to see if the Stormers continue with their exciting ball in hand approach in this match as the weather predictions are not great for this type of rugby. The home team showed excellent handling even in the wet in the last match and possess dangerous ball carriers throughout the team. This match promises to be an exciting affair as both teams love to run the ball. The bookies have the Stormers as favourites and I am also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting 1.80 Playabets 1.80 and Sunbet 1.82

Glasgow vs Stormers

  • These teams have played each other only once before with the Stormers winning 32-7.

Latest results for both teams

Glasgow beat Edinburgh 32-25 in their last match while the Stormers beat the Lions 40-7 in their last match.

Glasgow have shown a willingness to keep ball in hand especially in their home games and its certainly paid dividends as they have won four out of four at Scotstoun. They will be severely tested by arguably the best defensive side in the competition. The Stormers have been playing a refreshing brand of rugby and attacking from all across the field with the chief catalyst being flyhalf Mannie Libbok. He has been ably assisted by the Stormers player of the season so far, Hacjivah Dayimani. The number eight has shown blistering pace and a great off-loading game. His battle with opposite number Jack Dempsey will be one of the highlights of the match. I am backing the Stormers to win by 4 points.
