08-04-2023: Daily Predictions European Champions Cup Toulouse vs Sharks

Toulouse vs Sharks

The Sharks travel to France for their first ever encounter against the five time European champions Toulouse. The team from Durban will need to provide one the great European upsets if they have to overcome the home team. The visitors will need to provide the type of performance like they produced in the second half of the last match as they blew Munster away with their power play and accurate attack. The home side were also clinical in their round of 16 match when they overpowered another South African side, the Bulls. They kept the team from Pretoria tryless in the match and will again look to their defence to win them this match.

TIP: The Sharks were dealt a massive blow when two of their Springboks namely Eben Etzebeth and Jaden Hendrikse were both injured in the last match with the loss of the giant lock Etzebeth particularly painful as Toulouse have one of the biggest and strongest forwards packs in Europe. This match will be decided in the forwards and the home team certainly have the edge in this department. The bookies have Toulouse as favourites and I’m also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Betway 1.25, Gbets 1.25 and Hollywoodbets 1.27

HEAD TO HEAD STATS

Toulouse vs Sharks

  • This is the first ever meeting between the teams.

Latest results for both teams

Toulouse beat the Bulls 33-9 in their last match while the Sharks beat Munster 50-35 in their last match

PREDICTION

Toulouse are the red hot favourites coming into this match and it’s not hard to see why as they have arguably the best player on the planet leading the team in Anton Dupont. The number nine was recently crowned player of the Six Nations for the second consecutive year. He is known for his incredible attacking prowess but it was his defence that was unbelievable in recent matches. The Sharks will be hoping their all Springbok front row will at least gain parity in the scrums but the problem area will be the lineouts with Etzebeth and Emile Van Heeded out injured. Toulouse have too much quality in their team therefore I am predicting a home by more than 10 points.
