Blues vs Drua
The Blues welcome the Drua to their fortress, Eden Park for this quarter final encounter. The home side have been unstoppable on their home patch but will be disappointed that they were unable to retain their bonus point in their win over the Chiefs. They conceded to late tries which meant they will finish in second place on the final log standings. The Drua have been the Jekyll and Hyde team of the competition as they have lost all their away matches while only losing once in Fiji. They have battled with their attack while their ill-discipline has been their biggest downfall.
TIP: The Blues for the first time this season have selected their strongest side as players have returned from injury at the right time. The Drua have resisted the temptation of selecting Caleb Muntz at ten and have instead continued with youngster Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, in the pivot position. The Blues have been destructive in the forwards and they will be targeting the Drua pack as they have shown that they don’t have the power to match other packs. The bookies have the Blues as favorites and I’m also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Tictacbets 1.02, Wanejo 1.02 and Bettabets 1.02
HEAD-TO-HEAD STATS
Blues vs Drua
- The Blues have won all three previous matches between the sides.
Latest results for both teams
The Blues beat the Drua 31-17 in their last match while the Drua beat the Rebels 40-19 in their last match.
PREDICTION
One of the biggest improvements that the Blues have made under Coach Vern Cotter is their physicality as they have blowen some teams of the park led by the irrepressible Hoskins Sotutu. He is the leading try scorer in the competition but he is also leading the stats in meters gained and number of carries. If the Drua are to have any chance, they will need to find a way to slow the Blues ball down as there is a wealth of attacking threats in the Blues team. Both the home sides wingers are in the frame to be the starting wings in the upcoming All Blacks test matches. I am predicting a Blues win by more than 25 points.
