09-04-2022 Daily Predictions European Champions Cup Exeter Chiefs vs Munster

Exeter vs Munster

Two teams that are not having the best domestic form meet in this Champions Cup quarter final clash. They have met twice before in Europe with Munster winning one and the other match ending in a draw. The home team are almost back to full strength for this match while Munster have some key players out but welcome back international players Mike Haley and Keith Earls. Exeter have started to get back their form from seasons gone by and this will be the perfect time to play like the Chiefs of old. They must win their home leg to stand a chance of advancing to the semifinal.

TIP: Munster have lost their most influential forward in Gavin Coombes when he was injured in the last match. They also don’t have Joey Carbery available so it will be interesting to see how the young Ben Healy goes at flyhalf. The Chiefs are missing hooker Luke Cowan Dickie who is out with a long term injury. There are many classic head to head match ups but none as appetizing as Damian De Allende up against Henry Slade in the midfield. The bookies have Exeter as favourites and I also tip them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting 1.55, Playabets 1.54 and Sunbet 1.47.

HEAD TO HEAD STATS

Exeter vs Munster

  • There has only ever been two matches between these sides.
  • Munster have won one match and the other ended in a draw.

Latest results for both teams

Exeter won their last match 42-22 against Bath while Munster lost their match 34-19 to Leinster.

PREDICTION

Both these teams like to play structured rugby by keeping the ball amongst the forwards so the battle up front will decide the winner of this match. The Chiefs seem to have the edge in the forwards as they have players like Sam Simmonds, Jacques Vermeulen and Dave Ewers in their back row. Munster will do well if they can stop the Chiefs from getting quick ruck ball. The visitors have a fairly inexperienced line up ad will need international like Conor Murray and Earls to lead from the front. The Chiefs will have too much power in the forwards therefore in predict a home win by more than 10 points.

Predictions and Odds in details

Exeter will be looking to their most dangerous players like Stuart Hogg and Tom O’Flaherty to provide the spark in the backline to break a resolute Munster defence. The Irish side will always have a tight defence and the Chiefs biggest weapons used to be their lineout maul but this season they have struggled to gain any forward momentum from their maul. There are decent odds on the Exeter win but we suggest the home team on the handicap for better returns. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting (-4.5) 1.95, Sunbet (-4.5) 1.91 and Playabets (-4.5) 1.87
