Scotland vs France
Scotland play host to France at Murrayfield in this second round encounter in the Six Nations. Both teams come into this match with contrasting fortunes after the home side won for the first time in Wales in 22 years. The visitors suffered one of their worst home defeats in the competition after they were blown off the field by Ireland in a 37-18 loss. They were reduced to 14 men for much of the match but they looked hopelessly out of sorts without their talisman Anton Dupont. Scotland were brilliant for 50 minutes of their match as they stormed to a 27-0 lead before allowing Wales to within a point before winning 27-26.
TIP: The match against Wales showed the bets and worst of Scottish rugby of the last decade as they mix the sublime with the down right mediocre. They will need to put in an 80-minute performance against a French team that will be looking for redemption. It is impossible to imagine the visitors playing so poor in consecutive matches considering the talent they have across their team even without the great Dupont. The bookies have France as favorites and I’m also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Betway 1.57, Gbets 1.57 and Hollywoodbets 1.56
Scotland vs France
- France have won three of the last four matches between the sides.
- The home side have won the last three matches.
Latest results for both teams
Scotland beat Wales 27-26 in their last match while France lost 38-17 in their last match.
The French side looked a different unit without Dupont with his replacement Maxime Lucu taking most of the flak for the defeat. We can expect a much improved showing from them with Captain Grégory Alldritt tasked with leading from the front. There is heavy rain predicted for the match which will suit the Scots as they are used of the wet ball. The match will involve plenty of kicking which could play into the visitors’ hands as they have the most deadly back three in the competition. It goes without saying that if Finn Russell has a blinder, then very seldom do Scotland lose. I am predicting a French win by just six points.
