England vs Japan
England welcomes Japan to Twickenham in a highly pressurized match for the home team. They will still be in shock after losing to Argentina in the last which was their first defeat to the Pumas at Twickenham in 16 years. This was meant to be a match where they could try out different combinations before matches’ against Southern Hemisphere giants the All Blacks and the Springboks. This match has now become a do or die affair for under fire manager Eddie Jones against his former employees. Japan on the other hand will be looking to run the home team ragged with their high tempo game.
TIP: The visitors impressed all and sundry in their last match where they pushed New Zealand all the way before succumbing 38-31. They will again look to their exciting backline to create plays that will severely test the England defence. The home team will look to assert their physical dominance over Japan although this tactic failed miserably against the Argentinians in the last match. The bookies have England as favourites and I am also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting 1.07, Playabets 1.07 and Sunbet 1.08
HEAD TO HEAD STATS
England vs Japan
- England have won the only two previous matches against Japan.
Latest results for both teams
England lost 30-29 in their last match against Argentina while Japan lost 38-31 against New Zealand in their last match.
PREDICTION
England would have expected as easy victory in the last match but lost because the Pumas matched them in the forwards. Their biggest problem is if their pack does not dominate the opposition then they do not have a plan B. Japan on the other hand have no problems in attack as they are dynamic with great interplay between the backs and the forwards. If they are to cause an upset they will need their scrum to at least gain parity against the English. The home team have the brilliant Marcus Smith at ten and if he can link up his backline line then England will win by a big margin. I am predicting a home win by more than 20 points.
