12-12-2021 Daily Predictions European Champions Cup Wasps vs Munster

Wasps vs Munster

This could have been a cracker of a game but Munster will be without a number of their first team regulars due to them being in isolation after the South African tour. Wasps have their own injury crisis but will welcome back Alfie Barbeary after so much was expected from him. He is at member 6 for this match having previously played hooker and eighth man. Munster will have five debutants in this match and Wasps will be expected to win against such an inexperienced side. Munster need that old European magic to win this match.

TIP: Munster may be depleted but their backline is still full of internationals and only the fullback is not an international. Their issues are in the pack with just three regular players in the forwards. Wasps will look to attack them in this area especially at lineouts and scrums. This match could see Munster try and run everything to avoid set pieces and although it isn’t the Munster way it could be the recipe for success. The bookies have Wasps  as favourites and I’m also tipping them for the victory. The best odds on this bet are as follows:  Worldsportsbetting 1.23, Playabets 1.23 and Sunbet 1.25

HEAD TO HEAD STATS

Wasps vs Munster

  • This is the first meeting between Wasps and Munster.

Latest results for both teams

Wasps lost their last match 32-31 against Worcester while Munster lost 18-10 to the Ospreys.

PREDICTION

These teams usually have contrasting playing styles with Wasps the running team and Munster the more structured, set piece orientated team. Munster will want their star backline to be running everything and avoiding the set pieces. Wasps will want set pieces as the opposition pack is inexperienced and very young. All the pressure will rest on Irish international halfback pairing of Connor Murray and Joey Carbery, if they link the backline then they got a chance to win. This match will be close but the home team will win by 3 points.

Predictions and Odds in details

A role reversal is on the cards and Wasps will be looking to unleash their rolling  maul on the Munster pack. Munster do have two internationals in Peter O’Mahony and Tadhg Beirne and their role in guiding the youngsters around them could decide this match. I expect players like Damian de Allende and Keith Earls to test the opposition defence from the first whistle. There is poor returns on the Wasps outright win therefore I suggest the away team on the generous handicap. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting (+9.5) 1.90, Sunbet (+9.5) 1.88 and Playabets (+9.5) 1.87
