Bristol vs Bulls
Bristol play host to the Bulls at Ashton Gates for this Champions Cup encounter. Both teams have 5 points with a win and a draw after the first two rounds. There will be a hint of desperation in this match as the loser will find it very difficult to progress to the knockout rounds. The home side will be looking to replicate the form of the last match when they secured a brilliant away win over the Sale Sharks. The Bulls on the other hand will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to the Stormers. It was their seventh straight loss to their arch rivals.
TIP: The Bulls have decided to give their Springbok players the next five weeks off as per instruction from the powers that be. They do however have excellent replacements especially on the wings with the likes of Sergeal Petersen and Sabastian De Klerk. Bristol are unlikely to make too many changes to the team that performed so well in defeating the Sale Sharks last time out. The bookies have Bristol as favorites and I’m also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Betway 1.62, Gbets 1.61 and Hollywoodbets 1.61
HEAD-TO-HEAD STATS
Bristol VS Bulls
- This is the first ever meeting between the sides.
Latest results for both teams
Bristol beat the Sale Sharks 24-14 in their last match while the Bulls lost 26-20 to the Stormers in their last match.
PREDICTION
The Bulls are traditionally exceptionally strong in the forwards and this match will be no exceptions. They will however miss the services of their flying Springbok wingers. Bristol showed excellent defence in the last match and if they can match that performance, then they will come out on top. The Bulls have had a marked improvement in their scrum, thanks to the signing of Akker Van Der Merwe and Wilco Louw in the front row. They will be targeting Bristol at scrum time as the home side have given away plenty of scrum penalties this season. If the home team can match the Bulls pack, then I predict a Bears win by 6 points.
