17-03-2023 Daily Predictions Super Rugby Hurricanes Vs Waratahs

Hurricanes vs Waratahs

The Hurricanes welcome the Waratahs to Sky Stadium, Wellington for this Super Rugby Match. Both teams will be looking to bounce back from defeats in their last match as the Hurricanes lost to the Blues while the Waratahs lost to fellow Aussie outfit the Rebels. The big news for the home team is that Captain Ardie Savea is back from his one match suspension while the visitors have made a backline shuffle with Ben Donaldson moving from fullback to fly half. There is also a recall for giant winger Nemani Nadolo. His battle with Julian Savea will be worth the admission price alone.

TIP: The Hurricanes started the season like a house on fire but have shown chinks in the armour in their last two matches. Rampaging hooker Asafo Aumua, has been given a starting berth as the Hurricanes look to make a better start then they did in the last match as they trailed the Blues by 17 points at halftime. The Waratahs have looked blunt in attack and they will be hoping that Donaldson can link their potent backline. The bookies have the Hurricanes as favourites and I’m also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Betway 1.11, Gbets 1.12 and Hollywoodbets 1.12

HEAD TO HEAD STATS

Hurricanes vs Waratahs

  • The Hurricanes have won the last five matches against the Waratahs.
  • The last time the Waratahs won against the Hurricanes was in 2015.

Latest results for both teams

The Hurricanes lost their last match 25-19 to the Blues while the Waratahs were beaten 34-27 by the Rebels.

PREDICTION

The Waratahs have a star studded backline but they have struggled to get them involved in the game as they were attacking too deep and were not able to use their all Wallaby centre pairing of Izaia Perese and Lalakai Foket. Their battle with All Black star Jordie Barrett will not be for the faint hearted. The match will be decided by the forwards and both teams seem to be evenly matches in this area although the home team have a slightly stronger scrum. The return of Savea will be the difference between the sides especially if he is allowed space to run into. I am predicting a home win by 12 points.
