The All Blacks and Fiji clash in the unfamiliar surroundings of San Diego in the USA. The last time these sides met was 3 years ago with New Zealand thrashing the Island Boys 60-13. Much has changed since that encounter with the Fijian Drua now an established Super Rugby team. The All Blacks will be in buoyant mood after they saw off England in a two-match series albeit in very narrow wins. Coach Scott Robertson have rung the changes with as many as 11 personnel switches. The Fijians are also coming into the match with a victory under their belts after beating Georgia.
TIP: The All Blacks have selected a team with an eye to the future, especially in the front row with Fletcher Newell, Asafo Aumua and Tamaiti Williams in the starting XV. The Fijians are bound to be under pressure at scrum time as they face arguably the best front row that NZ can field. If the Flying Fijians have any chance of causing a massive upset, they will need to at least gain parity in the forwards. PREDICTION
The bulk of the Fijians squad comes from the Drua team but there is a sprinkling of world class players like Semi Radradra and Waisea Nayacalevu. They can be deadly if given space but its highly unlikely that they will get that privilege against a rush defence. All eyes will be on Beauden Barrett after the fullback put on his best display in many years when he came on as a substitute. It was his introduction that turned the match for his team in their 24-17 win over England. The All Blacks have finally given a debut to Billy Proctor after his brilliant season and he is sure to be a thorn in the side of the Fijians. I am predicting an All Blacks win by 30 points.
