Pumas vs Cheetahs
The race for the semifinals is in full swing with just two rounds of the regular season left. The Pumas and Cheetahs are in fifth and sixth place respectively. The Pumas are at home and they know a bonus point win will take them into the playoff spots. The Pumas made multiple changes in their last match but are back to full strength in this game. The Cheetahs know that anything other than a victory and they will be out of the playoffs. They came back from 13 points down against Griquas to win the match in the last 10 minutes. This was mainly due to Ruan Pienaar moving to number 10 in the second half. He is starting this match in the flyhalf position with Tian Meyer at 9. The Pumas back to full strength will look to dominate in the forwards although this won’t be easy against a fast improving Cheetahs pack.
TIP: The Pumas star in the last match was Sebastián de Klerk as the winger showed great pace and try scoring ability. He is fairly new to the team but he just adds to an already impressive Pumas backline. The Cheetahs major problem all season has been their porous defence and they have relied on their attack to gain them victory. The Pumas had an opportunity to beat the table topping Bulls in the last match but fell short in the last quarter as the Bulls replacements proved the difference. The home team will be expecting more from their bench especially as the Cheetahs are also very strong in the last quarter. The bookies have the Pumas as slight favourites and I’m also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting 1.70, Playabets 1.60 and Sunbet 1.58

The Pumas lost their last match against the Bulls 33-26 while the Cheetahs beat the Griquas 33-32 in their last match.
As with all local matches the forward battle is intense and in most cases the better pack wins the match. The Pumas have the edge in the forwards and I feel they also have the better scrum. The Cheetahs struggled in the scrum in the earlier part of the competition but they seem to have unearthed a very good front rower in Cameron Dawson. He will be one for the future. The Pumas always rely on their forwards but they have an exciting backline as well with speedsters Ettiene Taljaard and Devon Williams. They are super dangerous on counter attack so the Cheetahs will need to be accurate with their kicking game. Flyhalf Eddie Fouche will be looking to launch his backline and if he is successful then the Pumas will win. I predict a tight Pumas win by 5 points.

Predictions and Odds in details
Whenever the Cheetahs are involved you can be assured that the match will be high scoring as they score plenty of tries but unfortunately also concede a lot. The Pumas on the other hand have one of the best defences in the Currie Cup. They will need to be at their best as the Cheetahs love running the ball from anywhere on the field. The Cheetahs will need to be accurate in attack as any turnover ball will be punished by the Pumas backline. The Pumas have arguably the best driving maul in the competition and are expertly controlled by hooker Simon Westraadt. He has scored many tries from the maul and the home team will once again try to maul their way to victory. Punters have decent returns on the Pumas outright victory but I suggest the Pumas on the handicap victory. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting (-3.5) 1.90, Sunbet (-3.5) 1.87 and Playabets (-3.5) 1.91
Sports crazy fan that follows all major sport but the game with the oval ball is my real passion. Was an age level rugby coach and a huge supporter of the Springboks and diehard Liverpool man. I’m an experienced punter and sports writer whose predictions/tips are sure to stir up the emotions. I love the occasional wager on the underdog.
