Glasgow vs Edinburgh
Its derby weekend in the URC as Glasgow welcome Edinburgh to the Scotstoun Stadium. Both teams are flying high in the league with the home team in second position with 27 points while the visitors are fifth with 22 points. Glasgow are fresh off an excellent away win against Bayonne in the Champions Cup and will be looking to get on over the old enemy. Edinburgh also had a very good win over Castres in the Challenge Cup last time out. The home team have held the edge in recent meetings and will be looking to continue that trend.
TIP: Edinburgh will be not too perturbed about being on the road as they beat Ulster away in their last URC match which is no mean feat. Glasgow will be hoping that all their international stars are fit for this match especially George Horne who was sorely missed in the nine jersey. The visitors have been excellent in defence this season but have lacked the cutting edge in attack but showed signs of a revival going forward in the last two weeks. The bookies have Glasgow as favorites and I’m also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Betway 1.40 Gbets 1.40 and Hollywoodbets 1.40
Glasgow vs Edinburgh
- Glasgow have won three of the last four matches between the sides.
- The home side have won three of the last four matches.
Latest results for both teams
Glasgow beat Bayonne 12-11 in their last match while Edinburgh beat Castres 34-21 in their last match.
Glasgow have been using the driving maul to devastating effect this season with not too many teams able to stop it. They do however seem to struggle when they don’t get the results from the maul so Edinburgh will do well to have their maul defence in top form. The home side have shown that they are not afraid to attack from anywhere on the field and will be hoping for dry weather. The visitors have their own deadly attackers in Duhan van der Merwe and Wes Goosen but will miss the services of Blair Kinghorn who departed mid-season. I am predicting a Glasgow win by 10 points.
