23-12-2022 Daily Predictions United Rugby Championship Connacht vs Ulster

Connacht vs Ulster

An all Irish affair awaits us in this match as Connacht welcomes Ulster to the Sportsground for this URC match. The encounters between these teams are always titanic battles and this match promises to be no different. Ulster will be desperate to end a run of three consecutive defeats which started with a loss to a 14 man Leinster in this competition after they squandered a big half time lead. They were then embarrassed 39-0 against the Sale Sharks in the Champions Cup. Connacht will be looking to take advantage of a side that is low in confidence and will be hoping that the home support carries them to victory.

TIP: Ulster will be looking for a match better start than the last match when they found themselves 29-0 at halftime. They will take heart from the fact that they came back superbly in the second half to lose 36-29. Connacht have selected their strongest team and know that a win is vital if they are to harbor any hopes of making the playoffs this season. The bookies have Connacht as favourites but I’m tipping Ulster for the upset win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting 2.30 Playabets 2.35 and Sunbet 2.35

Connacht vs Ulster

  • The last six matches between the sides are evenly split with three wins apiece.
  • Ulster have won the last two matches between the sides.

Latest results for both teams

Connacht beat Brive 31-24 in their last match while Ulster lost 36-29 to La Rochelle in their last match.

The home team have already lost five matches this season although just one of those defeats were at home. They will again look to Irish star Bundee Aki to get them over the advantage line with his powerful carries. His battle with opposite number Stuart McCloskey promises to be one of the highlights of the match. Ulster have had the best rolling maul in Europe this season but in the last two matches they have struggled to make any ground. The return of Captain Iain Henderson will hopefully provide them with the impetus they were badly missing in his absence. I am predicting an Ulster win by 6 points.
