24-02-2024 Daily Predictions Six Nations Championships Scotland vs England

Scotland vs England

It’s the Calcutta Cup on the line again as Scotland welcome England to Murrayfield for this Six Nation match. The home team will still be upset after their controversial loss to France last time out. They were not awarded a try that would have given them victory although the ball looked like it was on the ground. England on the other hand squeaked home 18-16 against Wales to maintain their unbeaten record. This fixture has favoured Scotland in recent years as they are unbeaten in the last three matches against England. The big news for England is that Freddie Stewart has been dropped for George Furbank.

Tip: Scotland love to run with the ball but we can expect a change in tactics from time to time as they will look to test out new fullback Furbank. His predecessor is arguably the best in the world under the high ball but the Saints man is yet to be tested in an international. The contest that will go a long way to deciding the match will be Scottish maestro Finn Russell up against George Ford. The bookies have the Reds as favorites and I’m also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Betway 1.57, Gbets 1.57 and Hollywoodbets 1.56

HEAD-TO-HEAD STATS

Scotland vs England

  • Scotland are unbeaten in their last 3 matches against England.
  • The last time that England managed a win against the Scots was in 2020.

Latest results for both teams

Scotland lost 20-16 to France in their last match while England beat Wales 16-14 in their last match.

PREDICTION

The selection of Furbank suggests that England may adopt a more attacking approach as the fullback is a great runner from deep. This could make for an exciting match as the Scots also love to run the ball. As always the key for the home team will be Russell as he can create magic out of nothing. If he can get his backline players like Duhan van der Merwe and Blair Kinghorn into space then England will be in for a long afternoon. The visitors will be extra aware of the threat posed by Van der Merwe as he scored one of the greatest ever solo tries the last time the teams met. I am predicting a home win by 10 points.
