26-03-2022 Daily Predictions United Rugby Championship Bulls vs Dragons

Bulls vs Dragons

The Bulls seem to have found form at the right time as they have had two excellent wins in the URC. They crushed the Scarlets 57-12 in their last match while the Dragons were demolished 64-3 by Munster in their last match. The Bulls are now in eighth position with 31 points while the Dragons are second from bottom with just 11 points. The visitors have however played two less matches than the home team. The Bulls have been playing a juggling act between the URC and the Currie Cup but this week they will be fielding their strongest possible team which is bad news for the Dragons.

TIP: The hapless Dragons are having a season to forget and they could not ask for a more difficult task than to play the Bulls at their fortress Loftus Versfeld. The Bulls traditionally known for their forward dominated style of play have now developed their backline and when the forwards and backs link they are super dangerous. They have attacking threats all through their backline with Madosh Tambwe and Kurt-Lee Arendse among the quickest players in the competition. The bookies have the Bulls as overwhelming favourites and I am also backing them for a big win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting 1.01, Playabets 1.01 and Sunbet 1.01.

HEAD TO HEAD STATS

Bulls vs Dragons

  • This is the first meeting between the sides.

Latest results for both teams

The Bulls won their last match 57-12 against the Scarlets while the Dragons lost their last match 64-3 to Munster.

PREDICTION

The Bulls began the competition with a few defeats but since they have been back home they have looked a different side. They still have a formidable pack but its their backline players that are starting to shine now. Arendse in particular has added a new dimension to the Bulls attack. The Dragons will need to be accurate with their kicking out of hand as the Bulls back three are all great counter attacking players. The visitors will need their international players like Rhodri Williams and Aaron Wainwright to lead from the front or else they are in line for another huge defeat. I am predicting a Bulls win by 40 points.

Predictions and Odds in details

The Bulls may be playing a more complete type of rugby that involves the forwards and backs but their strength still lies in the pack and none more so than Captain Marcell Coetzee. He has been one of the form players in the URC so much so that he is being touted as a possible Springbok selection later in the year. The Dragons need their maul defence to be excellent otherwise the Bulls will maul them all game. There is no money to be made by backing the Bulls on the outright win therefore I suggest taking them on the handicap. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting (-32.5) 1.90, Sunbet (-32.5) 1.85 and Playabets (-32.5) 1.87
