This second round match in Group C sees Argentina take on Georgia in what is a must win encounter for the Europeans. The junior Pumas were one of the most impressive teams in the opening round of matches as they easily saw off the challenge of Italy. They were 8-0 down in the match and then the opposition were reduced to 14 players.
Argentina made the one man advantage count as they thrashed the Azzurri 43-15. Georgia had a much more difficult match as they took on the Baby Boks and gave an excellent account of themselves before going down 33-23.
TIP: The Georgians showed in their match that are no longer a one trick pony side that only relies on their forwards as their outside centre Kakhoidze was one of the standout players of the opening round. The Argentinians were superb with their backline play and the man that made that possible was flyhalf Baronio who controlled the backline with aplomb. Georgia have certainly improved their backline play in recent years but their strength still lies in the forwards. They dominated a strong South African team in the scrums, winning numerous penalties which enabled them to kick for touch and launch their destructive rolling maul. The junior Pumas will do well to avoid too many set pieces but with heavy rain predicted for the match that may be a difficult task. The kicking game of Georgia will need to be accurate as Argentina proved deadly on the counter attack. The skill of the South Americans on attack makes me predict a Pumas win by 5 points.
