Stormers vs Sharks
It’s the coastal derby in the URC as the Stormers take on the Sharks at the Cape Town Stadium. The home team have found form at the right time with excellent wins over La Rochelle and the Bulls over consecutive weekends. The Sharks on the other hand cannot buy a win and suffered the embarrassment of losing to the Cheetahs in their last outing. Despite having a Bok laden team, they have struggled to play with any cohesion. The pressure is building on Coach John Plumtree as his team are second from bottom on the log with just seven points from seven games.
TIP: It is scarcely believable that a team that has as many as eight Springboks have struggled as much as the Sharks. They don’t seem to have an identity as to whether they want to play a running or kicking game. The Stormers on the other hand have been superb in defence and look to have found their rhythm in attack with the return of Manie Libbok and Damian Willemse. The bookies have the Stormers as favorites and I’m also tipping them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Betway 1.35 Gbets 1.35 and Hollywoodbets 1.36
Stormers vs Sharks
- The Stormers are unbeaten in the last five matches between the sides.
- The last time the Sharks beat the Stormers was in 2021.
Latest results for both teams
The Stormers beat the Bulls 26-20 in their last match while the Sharks lost 32-29 to the Cheetahs in their last match.
If ever there was a game in which Curwin Bosch found his mojo, then this has to be the match. The Sharks are almost already out of the playoff positions unless they find a drastic improvement in form. The Stormers will be looking to attack the often porous defence of the visitors especially on the wider channels as the Durban team have been weak in this regard. The Sharks will be looking to their pacy scrumhalf Grant Williams to show some of his blistering speed and do some sniping around the rucks to get his team on the front foot. I am predicting a home win by more than 10 points.
