05/02 Daily Tips: Brentford face Man City in the Premier League Plus Other Odds

Football Prediction

Brentford will be hosting Manchester City as they seek to stop their surge to the top of the Premier League.

The hosts ended the 2023 calendar year on a low, having failed to win their final five league games, but the return of Ivan Toney over ten days ago has been a huge boost. They came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest a fortnight ago and almost snatched a point away at Spurs. With the Bees also having a good record against City – two wins from the last two encounters – they will fancy their chances of taking something from Monday’s game.

City are currently five points behind Liverpool with one game in hand, but their recent form has been good. With eight wins from their last eight games, they’ll fancy their chances here.

H2H / Stats

Brentford wins: 7

Draws: 1

Man City: 9

Team News

Sergio Reguilon could return for Brentford after missing the loss to parent club Tottenham earlier this week. Yoane Wissa is still representing DR Congo in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, while Bryan Mbeumo is out with an ankle injury. The Bees’ list of absentees also includes Ryan Trevitt (ankle), Rico Henry (knee), Kevin Schade (adductor), Aaron Hickey (hamstring) and Christian Nørgaard (foot).

Manchester City are concerned, there are no injuries or suspensions except Manuel Akanji. Erling Haaland featured after his injury lay-off as a substitute against Burnley, while John Stones played 90 minutes. Pep will have a difficult decision to make in the final third on Monday after Julián Álvarez’s brace last time out, but Rico Lewis is set to make way for Kyle Walker in defence.

Probable Line-Up

Brentford XI: Flekken (GK), Mee, Pinnock, Collins, Lewis-Potter, Janelt, Nørgaard, Jensen, Roerslev, Toney, Maupay

Man City XI: Ederson (GK), Walker, Dias, Stones, Gvardiol, Rodri, Silva, De Bruyne, Foden, Haaland, Grealish

Verdict

Brentford’s games have been characterized by plenty of entertainment in recent weeks. Only two of the Bees’ last ten games in all competitions have seen fewer than 2.5 goals scored, and both teams have scored in each of their last six games.
