Exeter vs Northampton
Exeter Chiefs plays hosts to Northampton Saints in this top of the table clash in the Premiership. Many people will say that Saints are the surprise leaders after 10 games. This has much to do with their massive improvement in defence. They have been regularly among the top scorers in the league but their defence was woeful. The Chiefs have also enjoyed a stellar season to date with a very young and inexperienced side. This was due to be a rebuilding phase for them but their younger players have been superb especially at home where they are unbeaten after five matches this season.
TIP: The Chiefs have shown that they are the fittest team in the league and possibly Europe as they have played virtually the same team in the last five matches. They have been the stronger team in all their matches in the last quarter. The Saints have been playing more intelligent rugby this season and not running the ball form their own 22m area as in previous seasons. They now have a balanced game plan that is paying off handsomely. The bookies have the Exeter Chiefs as favorites and I’m also tipping them for the win. PREDICTION
The home side have discovered a couple of young stars this season but none more devastating than Immanuel Feyi-Waboso. They winger was unstoppable against Bristol last time out with his lightning pace and power. The Saints will do well to prevent him from getting the ball in space. The match up between the two front rows will go a long way in deciding who comes out on top after 80 minutes. Both teams have excellent packs but the difference will be in the centers where the Chiefs have Henry Slade. The discarded England man has arguably been the player of the season thus far and he will prove the difference. I am predicting a home win by 9 points.
