1X2 Tips for Today
Moana Pasifika vs Chiefs
Tip 1: Chiefs to win
Reason for the tip: Moana Pasifika plays host to the Chiefs in the first of the weekend’s action and will have to do it without their inspirational skipper, Ardie Savea who is being rested. The home side scored a brilliant victory in their last match when they beat the Hurricanes. They will be hoping that the bye week has not broken their momentum as they face the red hot Chiefs. The visitors are fresh off a hard fought victory over the Blues but have decided to keep changes to a minimum.
The biggest area of concern for Moana has been their defence this season and the bad news is that they are coming up against the most potent backline in the competition led by the irrepressible Damian McKenzie at ten. The Chiefs have too much firepower for the hosts therefore I predict an away win.
Cardiff vs Lions
Tip 2: Cardiff to win
Reason for the tip: Cardiff welcome the Lions to the Arms Park for this URC encounter. Both teams are chasing a playoff position with the home side in sixth spot just two points ahead of the eight placed visitors. Cardiff are in the midst of a horror run that has seen them fail to win any of their last four matches with three losses and a draw. The Lions have struggled for consistency and have won three of their last six matches. They have however lost their last five away matches.
Cardiff have resisted the temptation to bring back any of their national players into the team straight after the Six Nations. The Lions on the other hand welcome back Quan Horn and JC Pretorious for this encounter. The desperation of Cardiff to end their losing streak especially at home will see them win this match by a very tight margin.
Glasgow vs Munster
Tip 3: Glasgow to win
Reason for the tip: The defending champions Glasgow play host to Munster at the Scotstoun Stadium. The home team has some unfinished business with their opponents as the visitors won on their last visit to this venue. Glasgow suffered a shock defeat to the Ospreys on their home patch last time out so they will be determined to bounce back with a win. Both teams are chasing the playoff spots with the home side in second spot while Munster are in fifth spot, eleven points adrift.
Glasgow will be delighted that they will be able to call on some of their first team regulars like Kyle Steyn and George Horne who were sorely missed in the defeat. Munster also have some big name players back like Gavin Coombes and Alex Nankivell. The match will be decided in the final quarter and I back Glasgow for the win as they have the stronger bench.
Handicap Betting Tips For Today
Northampton Saints vs Leicester Tigers: Away team (+8.5)
Reason for tip: The Saints play host to the Tigers at Franklin Gardens knowing anything other than a victory will seriously dent their playoff chances. The home side are currently in eighth spot with 26 points while the visitors are nine points better off and occupy the fourth and final playoff position. The Saints have rushed back some of their international stars like Finn Smith and Fraser Dingwall as this is a do or die affair.
The visitors have a much fresher squad as they do not have many representatives in the national set up. They will be hoping for an upset win that will go a long way to clinching a playoff position for them. I am expecting the Saints to win a close encounter but the Tigers will cover the +8.5 handicap.
Newcastle Falcons vs Sale Sharks: Away team (-10.5)
Reason for tip: The Falcons play host to the Tigers in this Premiership encounter with the home side playing to avoid the wooden spoon while the visitors are chasing a playoff position. The visitors are currently occupying seventh spot, six points off the playoff positions while the home team are last on the log. The Sharks have not wasted any time in bringing back Captain Ben Curry despite playing for England last week.
The home side’s struggles got even worse when they lost their star winger Adam Radwan to the Tigers during the season. They will again have the problem of breaking down the rock solid defence of the Sharks. The visitors will be eyeing a bonus point win therefore I expect them to cover the -10.5 handicap.
Moana Pasifika vs Chiefs: Home side (+18.5)
Reason for tip: Not many people are giving Moana a chance against the Chiefs especially as they are missing their skipper Ardie Savea. The home side have shown that they have tries in them although defence has been their Achilles Heel. If they can improve their defence then this could end up being a close match. I still predict the Chiefs to win but Moana will cover the handicap of +18.5

Understanding Rugby Betting
It is crucial that players understand the different types of rugby betting. If a player places a wager on a handicap bet with fully understanding it, he could think they won the bet but instead they lost the bet as they did not understand how it works.
Different types of Rugby bets
Match Winner
The most self-explanatory of bets to take on a rugby match. This is the most common and oldest type of rugby bet in which you select Team A or Team B to win. The odds on this type of bet may be low especially if your team is the favourite.
Draw No Bet
The draw is quite rare in Rugby Union, but it does happen from time to time. If you’re worried about the draw messing up your bet then take a Draw No Bet market. Your bet will be refunded if the match result ends in a draw.
Handicap Betting
The most popular bets on rugby are handicap bets. This is often where some of the best value is to be found. The handicap is an advantage that bookmakers give one team to make the game more balanced. The team given the positive handicap can win, draw or lose the game by less than the handicap to cover the bet and win. The team with the negative handicap must win the match by more than the points set out in the handicap to win their bet.
Total points over/under
The over/under betting market involves predicting whether the total number of points scored in a match will be above or lower than a certain predetermined number. For instance, if you bet on the over/under 50 points market and you bet on under, the combined score of the two teams shouldn’t exceed 50.
First Try Scorer
Rugby fans know the excitement that comes when a player breaks through the defence to score the first try. Betting on the first-try scorer is about predicting which player from either team will cross the try line first. This bet type carries higher odds as it’s challenging to predict, making potential payouts more lucrative.
Anytime Try Scorer
Less specific than the first-try scorer bet, the anytime try scorer wager involves picking a player you believe will score a try at any point during the match. The odds are typically lower than for the first-try scorer but offer a better chance of a payout.
