21-05-2022 Daily Predictions United Rugby Championship Scarlets vs Stormers

Scarlets vs Stormers

Both teams will be going all out for the win as the Scarlets look to overtake the Ospreys while the Stormers are looking to claim a home quarter final. The visitors have won their last seven matches and have been in brilliant form. The Scarlets will need to be at the top of their game in order to beat the visitors. These teams have contrasting styles of play with the South African team relying on their power game while the Welsh team love to run the ball from anywhere.

TIP: The Stormers have only lost four matches all season which is the least by any team in the competition but have dropped points in two drawn matches. They have a simple game plan that involves the forwards laying a platform for the backs to run the opposition ragged with their speed. The Scarlets will need to match the visitors up front if they are to win. The bookies have the Stormers as favourites but I fancy a Scarlets upset win.  The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting 2.40, Playabets 2.30 and Sunbet 2.35

HEAD TO HEAD STATS

Scarlets vs Stormers

  • This is the first ever meeting between the teams.

Latest results for both teams

The Scarlets won their last match 54-36 against the Dragons while the Stormers beat Leinster 20-13 in their last match.

PREDICTION

Both teams have young but very exciting flyhalfs but it will be the ten that can better link their backline that comes out as the winner. Mannie Libbok is the leading points scorer in the competition and Scarlets will need to watch him closely otherwise he can very quickly take the game away from them. The Stormers certainly have the advantage in the scrum and in the forwards therefore the Scarlets need to play a running game and avoid too many set pieces. They will look to international stars Liam Williams and Jonathan Davies to lead the attack and defence. I am predicting a home win by two points.

Predictions and Odds in details

The Stormers have arguably the best rolling maul in the competition and the Scarlets will need to find a way to defend it otherwise the Stormers will have a field day. There are plenty of great head to head battles in this match but the highlight for me will be the experienced eighth man Sione Kalamafoni up against the young gun Evan Roos. Both are hard running players but Roos is also great over the ball. There are great odds on the Scarlets upset win but if you are looking for a safety bet then I suggest taking them on the handicap. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Worldsportsbetting (+2.5) 1.91, Sunbet (+2.5) 1.89 and Playabets (+2.5) 1.81
