1X2 Tips For Rugby Fixtures Today
Australia vs Argentina
Tip 1: Argentina to win
Reason for the tip: Australia will be looking to go top of the Rugby Championship when they face Argentina in Sydney. The home team snatched the victory after the hooter last week, thanks to multiple penalty infringements by the visitors. The Pumas have looked to strengthen their bench by moving their superstar flanker Pablo Matera as they need to control the last quarter. The Wallabies have made a number of changes with the biggest one coming in the flyhalf position with Tane Edmed handed his first start in place of Tom Lynagh. In the midfield Hunter Paisami takes over the inside centre position.

Argentina started the previous match like a house on fire but ran out of steam in the end so they will be looking for better game management. Batista Delguy has lost his place on the wing with the powerful Rodrigo Isgo taking over. The home side will need to keep a close eye on him as he can be deadly if given any space. The scrum of the Wallabies holds the key to this contest, if they can get the upper hand then that will lay the platform for their exciting backs like Corey Toole and Max Jorgenson. I am backing the Pumas to throw the competition wide open with a victory over the Aussies.
New Zealand vs Springboks
Tip 2: Springboks to win
Reason for the tip: The Springboks have taken a horses for courses approach for their match against the All Blacks by naming an untried midfield combination and a rookie on the wing. The home side know a victory in this match will put them in pole position to win the Rugby Championship. The selection of the visitors suggest an attacking style of play with Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu in the flyhalf position and Cobus Reinach partnering him. The All Blacks have handed a debut to Leroy Carter as he replaces Rieko Ioane on the wing. There is doubting the attacking ability of the visitors but it is their defence that will face the litmus test especially with the new midfield pair.
The last match saw both teams kicking a lot of balls away as rain pelted down at Eden Park. There is no rain predicted for this match so the teams should be happy with keeping the ball in hand. The aerial battle will still be key with Damian Mckenzie in the fullback position ready to defuse the bombs. His battle with opposite number Aphelele Fassi will go a long way to deciding whose team comes out on top. The match will be decided in the forwards and this is an area the Boks have the edge. I am backing the visitors to come away with the win.
Lions vs Boland
Tip 3: Lions to win
Reason for the tip: The Lions have made clear their intentions to win the Currie Cup as they have again selected their full URC team for their semi-final clash with Boland. The visitors were totally outplayed by WP last week and can expect another tough match although they will be able to call on James Tedder and Ashlon Davids in the fullback and flyhalf position respectively. The game management of the two playmakers have been sorely missed in Boland’s last two matches which have ended in defeat and cost them a semi-final.
The Lions were ruthless in their annihilation of the Griquas as they controlled all aspects of the game with their backline in particular looking unstoppable. One of the shining stars of their victory was Henco van Wyk as he constantly got his side over the advantage line with more than one defender always needed to stop him. If Boland are to be competitive in this match, they will need to find a way to at least gain parity in the scrums and set pieces. The Lions have the edge in all areas therefore I predict a home win.
Bay of Plenty vs Hawkes Bay
Tip 4: Hawkes Bay to win
Reason for the tip: Bay of Plenty will have to replicate their form from last week if they are to overcome a strong Hawkes Bay in the Battle of the Bays. The home side were going through a tricky patch but ended that in style when they easily disposed of Taranaki on the road last week. The visitors also had an impressive 45-19 victory over the defending champions Wellington in their last match. There are plenty of interesting match ups with Richard Judd coming up against Folau Fakotava. Both nines are crucial to their team with Judd preferring the boot while Folau is a dangerous with his running game.
The home side have struggled in attack as they are missing their All Blacks wingers Leroy Carter and Emoni Narawa. They will be counting on the likes of Cole Forbes to provide the spark from the fullback position. The Hawkes Bay have plenty of game breakers in their backline and in their forwards with the Flanders brothers, Cooper and Devan leading the challenge. The matches between these sides always go down to the wire but I am backing Hawkes Bay to edge this contest.
Rugby Handicap Betting

Handicap Betting Tips for Today
Griquas vs Cheetahs- (Away team +8.5 handicap)
Its Currie Cup semi-final time when the Griquas welcome the Cheetahs to Kimberley. The visitors will be out for revenge after they were humbled by the same opponent in Bloemfontein during the league phase. Coach Frans Steyn has made some significant changes for this encounter with the Franco Smith experiment at flyhalf finally over after limited success. Clayton Blommetjies is back in the ten jersey after his excellent performance as a replacement in the last match. The Cheetahs looked flat in attack until he came on and added much needed spark to the attack.
The Griquas have been the most entertaining side in the competition with their exciting brand of rugby where they run the ball from anywhere on the pitch. It will be interesting to see if they adopt that high risk playing style in the semi-final. It will be foolish to deviate from what has been so successful for them up to now. The best chance the Cheetahs have of causing an upset is to attack the home side as their discipline is poor when they under pressure. I am backing Cheetahs to cover the +8.5 handicap.

Otago vs Taranaki(Home team +2.5)
Otago will be looking to cement their place in the playoff positions when they welcome the dangerous Taranaki team to the Forsyth Barr stadium. Something has got to give in this math as the home team has only lost once at their fortress while the visitors are unbeaten in their three away matches. Both teams are without their star fullbacks with missing Sam Gilbert who has been the stabilising influence for the young backline. Taranaki have been forced into a host of changes in their team therefore I am backing the home side to cover the +2.5 handicap.

Understanding Rugby Betting
It is crucial that players understand the different types of rugby betting. If a player places a wager on a handicap bet with fully understanding it, he could think they won the bet but instead they lost the bet as they did not understand how it works. Our rugby predictions will give you the option of the three way bet or the handicap betting as our previews will focus on this.
Different types of Rugby bets
Match Winner
The most self-explanatory of bets to take on a rugby match. This is the most common and oldest type of rugby bet in which you select Team A or Team B to win. The odds on this type of bet may be low especially if your team is the favourite.
Draw No Bet
The draw is quite rare in Rugby Union, but it does happen from time to time. If you’re worried about the draw messing up your bet then take a Draw No Bet market. Your bet will be refunded if the match result ends in a draw.
Handicap Betting
The most popular bets on rugby are handicap bets. This is often where some of the best value is to be found. The handicap is an advantage that bookmakers give one team to make the game more balanced. The team given the positive handicap can win, draw or lose the game by less than the handicap to cover the bet and win. The team with the negative handicap must win the match by more than the points set out in the handicap to win their bet.
Total points over/under
The over/under betting market involves predicting whether the total number of points scored in a match will be above or lower than a certain predetermined number. For instance, if you bet on the over/under 50 points market and you bet on under, the combined score of the two teams shouldn’t exceed 50.
First Try Scorer
Rugby fans know the excitement that comes when a player breaks through the defence to score the first try. Betting on the first-try scorer is about predicting which player from either team will cross the try line first. This bet type carries higher odds as it’s challenging to predict, making potential payouts more lucrative.
Anytime Try Scorer
Less specific than the first-try scorer bet, the anytime try scorer wager involves picking a player you believe will score a try at any point during the match. The odds are typically lower than for the first-try scorer but offer a better chance of a payout.
