Friday’s horse racing action is available from Gqeberha, with a nine-race program from the Fairview Turf track. Racing begins at 11:30 and includes a competitive Speeders Stakes event in Race 7. Below are our South African horse racing tips, predictions and suggested bets for the day’s racing. EXTRACTION has decent form and loves racing on the Turf. You can ignore her last start, as she did not enjoy running with the blinkers, and they have been removed for this race. She should be competitive and run well.

ZATARA MAGIC won well last time against strong horses, and I see no reason why he can’t follow up again. He is still better weighted than the favourite and should finish ahead.

Race 3 – 1400m (Maiden Plate)
OLIVER TWIST made a natural improvement last time and should show more improvement here. He runs with 58.5kgs and can pose a challenge to his rivals.

Race 4 – 1600m (Maiden Plate)
DONNY BOY has improved with every run and should not be a maiden for too long. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time, which could make a difference.

Trainer Kelly Mitchley has strong claims here, and two of her runners, BEAU KALA and LADY WRITER, have big winning chances. Both are ultra-consistent fillies and should run well. I prefer LADY WRITER just because of the better odds.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME took on stronger last time and is the horse to beat here. I hope that ZATARA MAGIC wins Race 2 and franks that form line. Despite carrying 61kgs, I expect a strong showing from the four-year-old.

Race 7 – 1000m (Speeders Stakes)
It is the featured race of the day and the return of CRUISE CONTROL to Fairview. The five-year-old is now racing for Gavin Smith and should show his class again. He did well in the KZN featured season and should be the horse to beat here. Provided he is fit and comfortable in his new surroundings, he represents excellent EW value. I am certain that come race time, his price will drop.

Race 8 – 1400m (Middle Stakes)
BRENDAN JAMES is much better than his previous two starts. If he can bounce back to his previous form, he is a massive danger to the Cape raider, INNAMORARE.

Race 9 – 1200m (FM 79 Handicap)
ELLORIX has loved racing in Fairview and followed up her maiden win with another victory. She is the horse to beat, but I am taking her on with WORK OF TIME. The filly showed signs of a form return last time and is a blinker strike here. In the lucky last, she represents the EW value at 12/1, and let’s hope she runs well.
