Wednesday’s horse racing action is available from KZN, with an eight-race program from the Greyville Poly track. Racing begins at 12:25 and includes a competitive Middle Stakes event in Race 6. Race 1 – 1000m (Maiden Plate)
APEX PREDATOR should win the opener and give punters a fast start to the day. However, at 4/10, he represents no value. I like CAPPELLINO to run well and finish in the money.

AMOR FATI is better than his last start when he was squeezed at the start. Ignore that run and give him another chance to bounce back.

SACRED LILY ran a good third last time and is having her peak run now. In this maiden handicap race, carded to run with 54.5kgs, she is a lively contender.

Race 4 – 1900m (FM 68 Handicap)
CANFORD QUEEN has won two of her last three starts. She is in a good space and is the horse to beat here. Despite carrying 60.5kgs, I expect a top run from the filly.

Race 5 – 1200m (FM 70 Handicap)
BLUSH OF DAWN set the pace last time but tired at the finish. If she can run a better race and have some cover, she can upset and run into the money.

Race 6 – 1100m (Middle Stakes)
ULTRA QUICK stayed on at the finish last time after a three-month break. He is having his second run after the rest, and if not producing a typical poor second run that most horses have, he should be competitive. I will take my chances, that he strips fitter.

Race 7 – 1600m (FM 86 Handicap)
MISS PLATINA last win was impressive, and she can win again. She has won on the Poly before, so she should have no issues with the surface.

Race 8 – 1600m (MR 67 Handicap)
WAVE WARRIOR has good form lines and is my pick for the lucky last. Rachel Venniker takes 1.5kgs off; with 56kgs, he should run well. Provided he gets off to a good start and gets to the front, he could be hard to catch at the finish.
