Friday’s horse racing action is available from Gqeberha, with an eight-race program from the Fairview Poly track. Racing begins at 12:45 and includes a competitive MR 87 Handicap in Race 5. The card opens with a weak open maiden race and weight will play a big factor. I am in the camp of ELUSIVE HUNTER, who has shown good form recently. I will be honest, if she can’t win win in this poor field and with her low weight of 53.5kgs, she will likely stay a maiden for her career. Let’s see if she can finally get her first win.

Race 2 – 2200m (Maiden Plate)
LENNOXTOWN has been disappointing, but I am taking a chance on him here. He is bred to enjoy the 2200, and Richard Fourie can saddle him to the placings.

Race 3 – 1900m (FM 68 Handicap)
HUGSANDHIGHFIVES is trying the 1900m, and if she sees it out, she should fight out the finish. The mare has good form lines and decent recent form.

Race 4 – 1600m (MR 72 Handicap)
WIND SOCK was an easy winner last time. He meets a similar field, and I see no reason why he can not follow up. At 12/1, he represents the EW value in this race.

Race 5 – 1600m (MR 87 Handicap)
TIRPITZ is having his peak run in the province. He is a quality horse and, on best form, will be a leading contender in this race. At 12/1, he is excellent EW value, and you should have a proper bet.

Race 6 – 1400m (MR 68 Handicap)
TRAVEL MASTER has good form and is the horse to beat. Despite carrying 62kgs, he takes a drop in class. With some luck in running, he should finish in the top three.

TRANSACT is a good horse and much better than his last two starts. He has been taking on stronger, and now, down in class, he is a dark horse. He gets the blinkers fitted, and that could prove the difference.

Race 8 – 1000m (MR 66 Handicap)
I searched for some value in the lucky last and found a horse at a generous price. ABSOLU NOIR is a lowly MR 48 rated horse but has shown a form return in his last two starts. Based on those runs, his low weight of 52kgs, and a good draw, he can sneak a place. At 20/1, a small EW bet will not hurt the balance, so let’s hope he can send us into the weekend with some EW returns.
