The card opens with a competitive maiden plate so please be cautious when betting. My tentative selection is CHARLIE BUCKET. He ran a nice debut effort and will come on from that run.

REAL STUNNER ran a good second last time and will come on from that effort. He looks progressive and should run into the money in this field.

BJORN IRONSIDE carries a handy mass in this competitive Class A event. With some luck in running, he should finish in the top three and give us some EW returns.

Race 4 – 1400m (Class 3)
SURGE OF POWER is the best weighted runner here and represents excellent EW value. He is having his peak run and should be at the top of his game.

Race 5 – 1800m (Cape B Stakes)
GREEN MANDARIN cost himself last time when he over raced in the early stages. He is unbeaten in three races over course and distance and can keep that run going with another win.

Race 6 – 1950m (Cape C Stakes)
GROOVEJET has good form and strong form lines. He is in a nice space and can continue his top form. For me, he is the horse to beat and should finish in the top three.

Race 7 – 1600m (Grade 3)
The featured race of the card and many of these horses are starting their prep for the bigger races to come. I love the EW odds on HLUHLUWE to run well. He does carry a hefty mass of 62kgs, and will need this run. However, he is a classy horse and does run well fresh.

Race 8 – 1200m (Class 5)
VERONIQUE has been running well lately and deservedly won two races back. She is in a good space and can continue her good form with another top three finish.

Race 9 – 1200m (Class 4)
CAPTAIN’S DESTINY was given a peach of a ride when winning in a class 5 event in her last start. She was not heavily penalized and carries a handy mass of 54kgs. She does take a rise in class, and with that low weight she can be competitive.

Race 10 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
The day ends with a maiden plate and its a big field with 20 runners carded to race. Depending on where you place your bets, you can get either 4 or 5 places on offer for an EW bet. I searched for value and found ANGEL’S OASIS. She has run two fair runs and looks progressive. If she makes the natural improvement, she can cause the upset here.
