Sunday’s horse racing action is available from KZN, with an eight-race program from the Scottsville track. Racing begins at 12:30 and includes five competitive Class C events. Race 1 – 800m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)
The opening race on the day is a maiden juvenile race (2-year olds). These babies are seeing a racing track for the first time. I have no suggested bets, as there are bigger and better races to come, so save your cash.

DRESSEDTOTHENINES is having her peak run here and is the horse to beat. Carded to race with 56kgs, if she runs in a straight line, she should shed her maiden tag.

Race 3 – 1950m (Maiden Plate)
LA VIDA LOCA has run three good efforts in KZN. She should have no issues with the rise to the 1950m. If she sees out the extra distance, I expect a top three finish.

Race 4 – 2400m (MR 76 Handicap)
LUCRETIUS has won two of his last three starts and is in a good space. My main concern is that he has not finished in the money in five runs at Scottsville. However, based on his top form, I think that stat changes.

Race 5 – 1600m (FM 82 Handicap)
GREENLITEALLTHEWAY has been running well and carries a low mass of 53.5kgs in this race. She is a progressive filly and could have more to come. I think she can cause the upset in this race.

Race 6 – 1400m (MR 78 Handicap)
TOBACCONIST returns after a well-deserved three month break. Before the break he was in top form with two wins in three races. If fit, he will be mowing them down at the finish.

Race 7 – 1200m (FM 78 Handicap)
EMERALD GREEN found the 1000m in her last start too short. She should run better here now over preferred distance. She carries a handy mass of 56.5kgs, and can run into the money at nice EW odds.

Race 8 – 1200m (MR 83 Handicap)
I think the value lies with NOW I GOT YOU in the lucky last. He gets the appie claim and carries just 48kgs. That low weight could prove the difference from him finishing in the top four or out of the placings. I suggest a nice EW bet to close off the weekend’s racing.
