Saturday’s horse racing action is available from the Western Cape, with a nine-race program from the Kenilworth track. Racing begins at 12:20 and includes the competitive Grade 1 – Cape Guineas event in Race 7. Below are our South African horse racing tips and suggested bets for the day’s racing. Race 1 – 1000m (Non-Black Type)
The opening race on the day is a juvenile race (2-year olds). Majority of these runners are seeing a racing track for the first time. I have no suggested bets, as there are bigger and better races to come, so save your cash.

Race 3 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
TUSCAN ROMANCE has been costly to follow with 6 straight second place finishes. I think on this big day and from a pole draw, he finally sheds his maiden tag.

Race 4 – 1800m (Grade 3)
SAARTJIE was running on in her seasonal debut, and should strip much fitter now. There is not much to separate her and RED PALACE. I prefer the better odds on SAARTJIE.

Race 5 – 1400m (Maiden Plate)
GREEN GARNET has finished second in both his starts in the Western Cape. He is better weighted than LANDOFTHERISINGSUN, and for me is the horse they all have to beat.

Race 6 – 1200m (Class 3)
SPEED RACER is much better than his last start, and returns from a three-month break. If he is fit to race, he represents the EW value in this competitive sprint race.
Suggested Bet – SPEED RACER EW @ 13/1❌
Race 7 – 1600m (Grade 1)
The big on, the Grade 1 Cape Guineas, and there is two ways to approach this race. Either you banker ONE STRIPE or you take the field. HEATHER’S BOY is unbeaten from three starts and is progressive. If his travels went well, he should run well. I am firmly in the camp of ONE STRIPE, he is a classy colt and is my banker in all exotics. If he loses, you can expect the exotics to pay big.

Race 8 – 1800m (Grade 3)
I searched for valued in this Grade 3 and found INFRARED. He carries a handy mass of 54kgs. From his wide draw of 11, he will be switched off and will be mowing them down at the finish.
Suggested Bet – INFRARED EW @ 10/1✅ EW PLACE
Race 9 – 1200m (Class 4)
AUGUSTA BLUE rises in class but could cause the upset with his handy mass of 55kgs. The form lines of his last win has been franked. He will need lots of luck to even sneak into the money, but with an EW bet paying 5 places, I will have a small bet to close the day.
