Sunday’s horse racing action is available from KZN, with an eight-race program from the Scottsville track. Racing begins at 12:30 and includes a competitive MR 90 Handicap event in Race 5. Race 1 – 900m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)
The opening race on the day is a maiden juvenile race (2-year olds). Most of these babies are seeing a racing track for the first time. I have no suggested bets, as there are bigger and better races to come, so save your cash.

Race 2 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
AGRADO ran well on debut and should make the natural improvement. He should make more improvement now that he understands what racing is all about. I expect a forward run, and a place finish.

Race 3 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
CATAVAR last four runs have been good, and he gets the 4kg claim here. Carded to race with 56kgs, I think he can be competitive in this field, and run into the money.

Race 4 – 1950m (FM 67 Handicap)
SASCHA’S DREAM was not disgraced against stronger last time. I am glad that Rachel Venniker retains the ride, and the combination should be involved in the finish.

Race 5 – 1600m (MR 90 Handicap)
I found a runner at big odds who can cause the upset in this race. ANCIENT WORLD has been running in Pinnacle and Middle Stakes events, and against much stronger horses. Now back in handicap company, he should be competitive. His price of 15/1, is too high, and he represents excellent EW value.

Race 6 – 1400m (MR 88 Handicap)
If we are going on weights, EL DANTE should finish ahead of TYRCONNELL. EL DANTE is 4/1 in the betting, while TYRCONNELL is the 15/10 favourite. The value lies with EL DANTE, and I will back him to finish in the top three.
Suggested Bet – EL DANTE EW @ 4/1 VOID-SCRATCHED
Race 7 – 1200m (MR 68 Handicap)
EL DRAQUE has fair recent form lines and has not finished too far back in his races. He carries 58kgs, and that weight should make him a leading contender. If he gets some luck in running, he should fight out the finish.

Race 8 – 1000m (MR 80 Handicap)
FUTURE FLO is in a good space with 2 wins and a second in three starts. He carries a handy mass of 57kgs in this sprint race. If he runs in a straight line, I will be shocked if he does not finish in the top three. Have a bet and let’s hope to end the weekend with a win.
