Horse Racing Today
Saturday’s horse racing action is available from Gauteng, with a nine-race program from the Vaal Main track. Racing begins at 12:15 and includes two competitive Class A events. VIBE SA has been a perennial bridesmaid with six consecutive second-place finishes. He meets the right field to finally notch up his maiden win, and I am backing to do so.

Race 2 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
INTRO has not finished too far back from the winners in her races. She has finished in the placings in each of her last two races. The three-year-old is at 12/1 in the betting, and it will not hurt to have a small EW bet on the filly.

Race 3 – 1200m (Graduation Plate)
VALIEVA run two races back caught my attention. She ran on well in that race, and if she repeats that effort here, she should finish in the money. Carded to race with 55.5kgs, she offers nice EW value.

Race 4 – 2400m (Maiden Plate)
THE MERCIFUL last three starts have been good and he should be out of the maidens soon. He meets the right field to get his first win, and I am backing him to run well.

Race 5 – 2000m (Pinnacle Stakes)
GOOD COUNCIL won well last time and I see no reason why he can’t follow up with another win. SON OF RAJ is the class horse in this field, but he is giving too much weight to his rivals. At 52kgs, GOOD COUNCIL should go very close to winning.

Race 6 – 1100m (Middle Stakes)
PASSAGE OF POWER won his last start with Rachel Venniker on board. The pair are back together and should continue their unbeaten record. If he reproduces his last run, he is the horse to beat.
Suggested Bet – PASSAGE OF POWER EW @ 4.5/1✅ EW WIN

Race 7 – 1475m (Non-Black Type)
The featured race of the day and the betting is wide open, with the favorite starting at 7/1. I suggest you load up in all exotics, as this is a massive field and their could be an upset. My tentative first selection is CAPTAINOFTHEGREEN. He has won his last three races and carries a handy mass of 55kgs. With Richard Fourie in the saddle, he should run well and be competitive in this big race.
Suggested Bet – CAPTAINOFTHEGREEN EW @ 8/1
Race 8 – 1475m (Non-Black Type)
I am surprised with the odds on WARHAWK BOMBER in this race. At 12/1 in the betting, he represents the EW value here. Rachel Venniker takes 1.5kgs off and carded to race with 55.5kgs, the gelding will be mowing them down at the finish.

Race 9 – 1800m (MR 78 Handicap)
LUTHULI did not produce a run last time and was soundly beaten. Before that race he won in this class and that race has since been franked. He does carry a hefty mass of 60kgs, but with some luck, he can run into the money.
