Thursday’s horse racing action is available from KZN, with an eight-race program from the Greyville Turf track. Racing begins at 12:45 and includes a Listed Handicap event in Race 7. Race 1 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
THE GOLDEN GOAL last two runs have been good. He should of finished closer to the winner last time but was carried at the 200m mark. With better luck in running, he should fight out the finish.

AYUWI YUWI is much better than her latest effort. She carries no weight in this sprint race and runs with just 48kgs. If she gets away well, she can hold on for a top-three finish.

Race 3 – 1400m (Maiden Plate)
ZALTA STAR found no luck in her last race as she cast a shoe in running and had no running room at the business end. With better luck in running, she can finally shed her maiden tag.

Race 4 – 2300m (Middle Stakes)
JOHNNY THE THIEF is going for the hat trick of wins after winning his last two starts on this course. He is in a good space and despite giving weight to his rivals, should still be the horse to beat.

Race 5 – 1900m (FM 84 Handicap)
SHE’S A BOMBER is a progressive filly and could be ahead of the handicapper. She has won her last two races and is on the up. From a pole draw, she is my banker in the PA.

Race 6 – 1600m (Listed Stakes)
CELTIC BEAUTY has been running against some very strong horses and should be competitive in this race. She gets the blinkers fitted for the first time, and that could prove the difference.

Race 7 – 1600m (Listed Handicap)
SUNDANCE KID has fair recent form and has a good record over this distance. Rachel Venniker takes 1.5kgs off, and carded to race with 52.5kgs, he is a massive runner in this Listed event.

Race 8 – 1600m (MR 77 Handicap)
MR HOTSTEPPER is a lightly raced three-year-old. He had excuses in his last race and should go better here. He is still a relatively unknown horse, and could be anything. I will have a small EW bet to close the card.
