Friday’s horse racing action is available from Gqeberha, with an eight-race program from the Fairview Turf track. Racing begins at 12:20 and includes a competitive Class A event in Race 5. Race 1 – 2400m (Open Maiden)
A MONTH OF SUNDAYS stayed on at the finish last time over 2000m. She is bred to enjoy the 2400m, so I expect her to stay as well. She carries a handy mass of 54kgs, and can give the males a challenge.

Race 2 – 1400m (Maiden Plate)
AMERICAN PITBULL has been running well over sprint races. He has stayed on at the finish in those races and should enjoy the extra 200m here. He represents the EW value in this race.

Race 3 – 1400m (MR 74 Handicap)
I am taking a chance on ABSOLU NOIR. He carries a low mass of 52kgs, and has the early speed to overcome his wide draw. With some luck in running, he can sneak into the money at massive EW odds.

Race 4 – 1400m (MR 90 Handicap)
EL ROMIACHI cost himself last time when losing two lengths at the start. If he jumps on terms he is a big runner. Carded to race with 54kgs, I think he can make it four wins in his last five races.

Race 5 – 1600m (Class A – Non-Black Type)
The featured race on the card and I am in the camp of LUNA HALO. She is the class horse here and should make amends from her second place in this race last year. On best form, she should take a power of beating.

Race 6 – 1600m (FM 86 Handicap)
STRANGE MAGIC has been running well since moving to a new trainer. She carries 54kgs, and has the form to be competitive. At 12/1 in the betting, she represents the EW value.

Race 7 – 1000m (MR 68 Handicap)
WORDSWORTH was caught late last time and was unlucky not to win. He has found a new lease for racing at Gqeberha and should go well again. For me, he is the horse they all have to beat.

Race 8 – 1200m (FM 72 Handicap)
I searched for EW value in the lucky last and found MY AMI BEACH. The mare prefers the Turf and has excellent course and distance form with three wins, a second and two thirds from 11 races. At 25/1, a small EW bet to close the card.
