Friday’s horse racing action is available from Gqeberha, with an eight-race program from the Fairview Turf track. Racing begins at 12:25 and includes a competitive Listed Stakes event in Race 7. Below are our South African horse racing tips, predictions and suggested bets for the day’s racing. STU’S GIRL is visiting from the Western Cape and is here to shed her maiden tag. Whether she does so is another question, but at 8/10, I looked elsewhere. PONTE VECCHIO has good form and is knocking on the winner’s door. With some luck, she should fight out the finish.

Race 2 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
TURBO TWENTY is also visiting from the Cape and is here to shed his maiden. Like his stablemate in the first race, he represents no value at 6/10 in the betting. I think the value lies with COLONEL GREEN. The gelding has fair form and finished in the money in his only course and distance run. If he gets some luck, he can finish in the placings.

Race 3 – 1200m (Novice Plate)
FAMILY LAW did not produce in KZN last time out in the Grade 1. Back in home surroundings, he is the horse to beat here. I will be shocked if he does not finish in the top three.

Race 4 – 1200m (MR 96 Handicap)
GIMME’S LADDIE was ultra-impressive in his latest victory, setting a new course record. He takes a rise in class but is progressive and could be ahead of the handicapper. The hat trick of wins is on the cards, so have a decent EW bet.

BE REAL needed her first run in the province and will come on from that effort. Going against her is her big mass of 61.5kgs and her wide draw. However, she will be mowing them down at the finish and can run into the money.

Race 7 – 2000m (Listed Stakes)
It is the featured race of the day, and what a competitive race we have. GOLD POKER GAME, FLOWER OF SAIGON and TIME FOR LOVE all have winning chances and are here from the Western Cape for the first prize cheque. I am in the camp of the local runner, JOY AND PEACE. She is a top-class filly and has won four in a row. She meets stronger Cape horses here, but she can complete five in a row with some luck.

Race 8 – 1400m (MR 74 Handicap)
Racing on Friday ends with a big field, and we are getting four places for our EW bets. I like ARIVIDICIO to run well and build on his debut effort in the province. He caught the eye running on late, and if he is not too far behind at the 400m, he should have a say in the outcome. At 10/1, he represents the EW value in the lucky last, so let’s hope he gets our weekend started on the right note.
