Friday’s horse racing action is available from Gqeberha, with an eight-race program from the Fairview Turf track. Racing begins at 12:25 and includes a Listed Champions Juvenile Cup event in Race 7. Fairview Selections
Race 1 – 1200m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)
FANTASY GIRL meets the right field to shed her maiden tag. She raced against males last time and should take a power of beating back against same sex rivals. I expect her odds to drop come race time, so the 4/1 is good value.

Race 2 – 1600m (Open Maiden)
DUMISANI has fair form and is having her peak run. She has finished in the money in 50% of her races, and I expect that trend to continue here. She runs with 54kgs and will be competitive with that low mass.

Race 3 – 1600m (MR 70 Handicap)
It is a competitive race, and you must load up in the Pick 6. I like the value of PEDRO, and although he carries a top weight of 61kgs, he has the form to run well. He takes a drop in class here and should finish in the placings.

Race 4 – 1100m (Pinnacle Stakes)
THREE ROCKS is a classy filly, and her record reads 12 races, seven wins, two seconds and a third. Ignore her last start, as the jockey felt something wrong in running. She should bounce back here and beat her rivals. With some luck in running, she can return to winning ways.

Race 5 – 1200m (MR 86 Handicap)
I think there is value with ON THE ROAD AGAIN in this race. He did not produce a good effort last time and was well beaten by several of his rivals in this race. However, he is a good horse, and I am backing him to turn the tables. With some luck in running, he can finish in the money with his handy mass of 56.5kgs.

Race 6 – 1200m (MR 74 Handicap)
Call me crazy, but I think we get an upset in this field. It is a big field with five places on offer, and a big EW value is on the cards. HOLOCENE is my pick, and the three-year-old has his second run in the province. He needed his debut effort, and he was unlucky in running. He can upset and win this type of race at massive odds with better luck.

Race 7 – 1400m (Listed Stakes)
KINGDUNDEE is a top juvenile with terrific form. He has three wins and a second from four runs and is a leading contender in this Listed event. Cape raider MAKAZOLE merits respect, but I am in the Eastern Cape runner’s camp. His odds at the time of writing is top value, and I encourage readers to have a healthy EW bet.

Race 8 – 1600m (MR 86 Handicap)
The lucky last and I found excellent value with DUBAI HILLS. The three-year-old has his peak run in the province and can show a form return. The ex Mike De Kock horse is now under Alan Greef’s stewardship and returns to handicap company. His previous two runs in the province were against stronger in Pinnacle events. Against this field, he is a dark horse to win with some luck in running. So, let’s hope he gets us some EW returns to boost our betting funds for the big racing on Sunday (Gold Cup Day).
