Saturday’s horse racing action is available from Gauteng, with a nine-race program from the Turffontein Inside track. Racing begins at 12:20 and includes two competitive Listed Stakes events. Below are our South African horse racing tips, predictions and suggested bets for the day’s racing. FIERY PEGASUS should win the opener but represents no value at 5/10 in the betting. I think the value lies with VOLARE E MAMBO who runs with a handy galloping mass of 56.5kgs. With some luck, she should fill out the exacta.

CHESTNUT BOMBER followed up his maiden win with a good third place. He carries just 54kgs, and that could prove the difference in this race. The gelding is progressive and should fight out the finish.

Race 3 – 1800m (Maiden Plate)
CITY LIGHTS is a consistent maiden who just can’t seem to win. She is not weighted to beat the favourite, but I expect her to beat home the rest of the runners.

Race 4 – 1200m (MR 80 Handicap)
NETTLETON should have won her last start but hung at the closing stages. She has a 100% record over this distance, and if keeping a straight line, she should have a say in the outcome.

Race 5 – 2000m (MR 73 Handicap)
SAFE SPACE is a winner of his last two starts and is going for the hat trick. He finished 0.05 lengths ahead of AMERICAN BISCUIT last time but is worse off at the weights here. For that reason, and because of the strong form of AMERICAN BISCUIT, I think the previous result will switch here.

PRESLEY finished third in a Grade 3 last time, and that form has been franked. He has fair form, and if he is not too far behind at the 400m mark, he will be mowing them down at the finish.

It is a competitive Listed event, and you must go wide in the exotics. I am in the camp of QUANTUM THEORY who won well last time. Despite carrying 61kgs, he is a good sort and can run well again.

Race 8 – 1200m (Listed Stakes)
It is the final featured race of the day, and many with winning chances. I like CAPTAIN PEG to get a much-deserved seventh win in her career. She is a special filly and has bounced back to form with strong form lines. Despite carrying 60.5kgs, she can be competitive in this field and represents EW value.

Race 9 – 1800m (Maiden Plate)
The day’s racing ends with a weak maiden plate, and it looks like a match race between TOWERS OF GOLD and ROMAN’S REVENGE. Both have decent form, and not much should separate them at the finish. Purely based on the better odds, I am on ROMAN’S REVENGE.
