Saturday’s horse racing action is available from the Western Cape, with a nine-race program from the Kenilworth track. Racing begins at 12:25 and includes the highly competitive Grade 1 – L’Ormarins King’s Plate event in Race 7. Below are our South African horse racing tips and suggested bets for the day’s racing. Race 1 – 1000m (Non-Black Type)
CALL OF THE KAROO produced an encouraging debut effort. She did race green on that day, but should improve now that she understands what racing is about. A small EW bet to start the day.

Race 2 – 1000m (Cape B Stakes)
SPEED RACER was in need of his last start and should strip fitter now. He has placed in his three course and distance attempts, and hopefully should run well. At a big EW price, have a small bet.

Race 3 – 1000m (Sprint Cup)
ROMAN AGENT has not finished too far back in his recent runs. He carries no weight with just 50kgs. That light mass could prove the difference in this sprint race.

Race 4 – 1200m (Grade 2)
GIMMIE’S COUNTESS is much better than her last start. If she runs like her previous form, she is the horse they all have to beat. A banker in my PA and BIPOT.

Race 5 – 1800m (Grade 2)
WITHOUT QUESTION is having his peak run and should go well. Rachel Venniker knows him well, and I expect the pair to fight out the finish. At 10/1 in the betting, he represents the EW value here.

Race 6 – 1800m (Grade 1 – Cartier Paddock Stakes)
DOUBLE GRAND SLAM and RED PALACE will be popular among many punters. I am playing to beat them with LITTLE SUZIE. The filly is lightly raced and could have scope for more improvement. Racing with 54kgs, she could sneak into the money.

Race 7 – 1600m (Grade 1 – L’Ormarins King’s Plate)
ONE STRIPE is the favourtie in the big race, but I can’t have him at just 2/1. Instead I love the EW value on SEE IT AGAIN. I am glad that Rachel Venniker is on board, as she races the talented gelding at work. I expect a strong bounce back from the below par Summer Cup run. At 7/1 in the betting, he is my best EW bet for the day.

Race 8 – 2500m (Grade 3)
I am taking a chance on NEBRAAS here. Yes the eight-year-old is past his best, but on his day, he can put any field away. It is encouraging that the red hot Gavin Lerena is in the saddle. His on a hot streak right now, winning across the country. A small EW bet on massive odds.

Race 9 – 1400m (Middle Stakes)
My love affair of big priced runners continues with the lucky last. I am in the camp of TOUT A FAIT. The six-year-old has found a form return and has a good record over course and distance. Carded to race with 55.5kgs, he is a lively danger here. Hopefully we can end a great day’s racing with some nice EW returns.
