Sunday’s horse racing action is available from KZN, with an eight-race program from the Scottsville Turf track. Racing begins at 12:20 and includes a competitive Listed Stakes event in Race 7. Race 1 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
SOVEREIGN COMMAND ran an impressive second in his last start and then was rested for 13 weeks. He should have strengthened up during that time, and if fit, he can fill out the placings in the opener.

Race 2 – 1600m (Maiden Plate)
SAFARI LODGE produced a decent third-place finish in her last start. She does have a wide draw to overcome, but with some luck in running, she can finish in the money.

Race 3 – 1000m (Maiden Plate)
EDGE OF TOMORROW’S last start was poor, but she had good form before that run. She may not beat the favourite, SUN IN MY POCKET, but she can fill out the exacta.

Race 4 – 1400m (Maiden Plate)
GOOD LIVING finished fourth in his last start and hung at the 300m. If he can run in a straight line, he should be competitive and can shed his maiden tag.

Race 5 – 1400m (Maiden Plate)
MAGMA MAGIC’S last two runs have been impressive, and his last race catches the eye. He should have won that race, but the jockey dropped the crop. With better luck, he can find the winner’s box.

PANTEA has solid form lines and carries a handy galloping mass of 55kgs. In this sprint race, if she is not too far back at the 300m, she can mow them down at the finish.

Race 7 – 1600m (Listed Stakes)
I found excellent EW value in the featured race of the day. SPARKLING JUBILEE has tremendous form, and you can ignore her last run. The jockey felt something amiss and did not persevere with the run. She jumps from pole and runs with a low weight of just 52.5kgs. With some luck in running, she can produce an upset and give us some EW returns.

Race 8 – 1400m (FM 79 Handicap)
GORGEOUS GIRL has top form and loves running at the course. Her last four starts read two wins and two seconds. She has finished in the money in all five of her races at Scottsville (two wins, two seconds and a third). From the best draw, she can win again, and I will be shocked if she does not finish in the top three.
