Sunday’s horse racing action is available from KZN, with an eight-race program from the Greyville Poly track. Racing begins at 12:25 and includes a competitive MR 76 Handicap event in Race 5. Greyville Poly Selections
Race 1 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
AVERNIAN GODDESS is a banker in this race, but at 4/10, she is too low to have a beat. If she does fluff her lines, then I expect HEAD GIRL to finish best from the rest. The four-year-old is a struggling maiden but has decent form lines and has run into the money consistently.

Race 2 – 1700m (Conditional Maiden)
This is a weak maiden race, so be careful when betting. It would not be a shock if an upset winner emerged here, and I will take my chances with CASTLE MEY. The filly carries 56.5kgs and showed remarkable improvement in her last start. She could be a lurker in this field if she can confirm that run.

Race 3 – 1600m (MR 70 Handicap)
ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD has decent form lines and never seems to run a bad race. He is weighted to finish closer to the favourite and, with some luck in running, can notch up another win.

Race 4 – 1000m (FM 73 Handicap)
SWISS PARADISE last three runs have been good, and she could be the right one in this sprint race. The filly carries a low mass of 52kgs and could be hard to catch at the finish. Many of these horses are priced the same, so the value lies with the four-year-old.

Race 5 – 1000m (MR 76 Handicap)
Finding a winner in this race has proved tough, as many have faced each other frequently. In the end, I decided to go against backing a winner and went for a horse to place. ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA last two starts have been okay and with just 48kgs, he could be hard to catch. I am taking an extra place bet, so I need him to finish in the top 4.

Race 6 – 1400m (FM 68 Handicap)
MISS LIALAH has top form and loves this course and distance. All five of her wins have come here and she takes a drop in class in this event. From a pole draw, she should be a top contender, and I would be shocked if she did not fight out the finish.

Race 7 – 1400m (MR 66 Handicap)
It looks like COUNT MARSH has found some form again, and his next win is not far away. His last few starts have been impressive, and he can finish in the money with some luck.

Race 8 – 1400m (MR 66 Handicap)
L’ULTIMO has not shown anything to warrant a bet, but I think he represents value. If you look at his last two runs, he raced over 1800m and 2000m but is now back down in trip. I think that was a smart tactic by his trainer, and he should be fit enough over his preferred distance now. I can’t give you strong confidence in this bet, so a small wager to end the weekend.
