Sunday’s horse racing action is available from KZN, with an eight-race program from the Scottsville Turf track. Racing begins at 12:20 and includes a competitive MR 98 Handicap event in Race 5. Race 1 – 1200m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)
FEEL THE WIND has produced two good efforts and has taken well to racing. She is having her peak run here, and from a pole draw, she should have no problem settling. I expect another strong run, and she should finish in the money.

Race 2 – 1750m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)
It is a two-horse race between DAPPER and BURNING MAN. Both horses are short in the betting, and I prefer DAPPER on collateral form. The colt has top form and his debut win is around the corner. At 2/1, he is the horse to beat.

Race 3 – 1950m (Maiden Plate)
HURRICANE FLIGHT showed remarkable improvement in her last start. If she can confirm that run, then she represents excellent EW value. A small bet on her to run well and show further improvement.

Race 4 – 1950m (FM 82 Handicap)
ESCAPOLOGIST has decent form and is in a good space. She carries 57.5kgs here and can be competitive off that weight. She is weighted to go close, and I expect another consistent run.

Race 5 – 1200m (MR 98 Handicap)
The featured race of the day, and I love the value of GOOD TRAVELLER. Carrying 58.5kgs, thanks to Rachel Venniker’s 1.5kg claim, he is a top contender. The five-year-old is a classy gelding and has recently shown a form return. If he can show any of his three-year-old form, he will blow this field away. Have a good strike on an EW bet on this quality horse.

Race 6 – 1000m (MR 68 Handicap)
PURPLE POWAHOUSE has good form, and his next win is overdue. He is getting up in age but still has a zest for racing. In a sprint race, with 56kgs, he should run well, and a top-three finish is a minimum.

Race 7 – 1500m (FM 90 Handicap)
MALCOLM’S DREAM was not heavily penalised for her last win and can score again here. She meets a similar field and, with some luck, can fight out the finish. The mare has good course and distance stats and is in a good space.

Race 8 – 1500m (MR 88 Handicap)
GOLDEN PEACE should have won his last start but hung at the finish. If he can run in a straight line, he should do better and hopefully win. He gets the services of Rachel Venniker, and with 59kgs, he can go close. It is the lucky last, and there is no better way to end the weekend than with a win. Let’s hope GOLDEN PEACE can deliver and give us some winnings.
