Horse Racing Today
Thursday’s horse racing action is available from Gauteng, with an eight-race program from the Vaal Classic track. Racing begins at 12:25 and includes a competitive FM 80 Handicap event in Race 7. Below are our South African horse racing today tips and suggested bets for the day’s racing. The card opens with a work riders maiden, so no suggested bets from me. Keep an eye on the betting if you are going to have a wager, and please stake cautiously.

ASIAH’S TIARA has run three good races to date. She is taking on male rivals in this race, but I think she can give them a strong challenge. Despite her wide draw, she carries a handy mass of 54.5kgs, and should run well.

Race 3 – 2000m (MR 74 Handicap)
WHISPERS OF WAR has good form lines and takes a drop in class. He won his only run over course and distance, and carries a handy mass of 56.5kgs. On best form, he should be competitive in this field.
Suggested Bet – WHISPERS OF WAR EW @ 6/1❌
Race 4 – 2000m (FM 80 Handicap)
VISIONOFPEACE is having her peak run and should go close. Her last few starts have been fair, and she should run well. If she finds luck in running, I expect a top-three finish.
Suggested Bet – VISIONOFPEACE EW @ 10/1❌
Race 5 – 2000m (FM 70 Handicap)
KEY WORKER raced against higher rated horses in her previous race. She drops back down in class, and if running like her last run, she should be too good for this field.
Suggested Bet – KEY WORKER EW @ 4.5/1❌
Race 6 – 1500m (MR 74 Handicap)
I could not believe the odds on OMBUDSMAN in this race. At 8/1 in the betting, he represents massive EW value. He raced in a Grade 3 recently and was not disgraced. He takes a drop in class and should be competitive.

Race 7 – 1450m (FM 80 Handicap)
SALENIO PENINSULA ran well in a Grade 3 last time and that race has been franked. She returns to handicap company, and is the horse they all have to beat. She is a banker in all exotics.

Race 8 – 1200m (MR 72 Handicap)
WRITTEN IN STONE is a model of consistency and always runs well. He is threating to win again, and I think his consistency could be rewarded here. Carded to race with 55.5kgs, and despite a wide draw, he should run into the money.
