Tuesday’s horse racing action is available from Gauteng, with an eight-race program from the Vaal Classic track. Race 1 – 1000m (Maiden Plate)
The card opens with a work rider’s maiden race, so be careful when betting. BELLISSIVAR is much better than her last start, when she cast a shoe in running. So you can ignore that run, and I expect a better effort. She has solid form and, in this field, can run into the money.

Race 2 – 1000m (Maiden Plate)
PACIFIC’s last two starts was impressive when he finished second and third, and reproducing those efforts, he can go close again. He gets the services of Muzi Yeni, and he can coax a little bit extra out of the colt at the finish.

Race 3 – 2000m (FM 90 Handicap)
AVOONTOAST is searching for the hat trick, and she is in top form. She meets stronger here but is well weighted and can go close. Trainer Joe Soma has his horses running well, and I expect another top effort from the mare.

Race 4 – 1800m (MR 80 Handicap)
THUNEE PLAYA ran a cracker last time out when winning under the stewardship of Trent Mayhew. The pair are back for another effort, and despite a penalty and carrying 58.5kgs, I believe the combination can run into the money.

Race 5 – 1200m (Middle Stakes)
The featured race on the day, and I am in the camp of THE AFRICA HOUSE. The four-year-old takes a massive drop in class, and despite carrying 62kgs, he is the one to beat. He ran well when he finished third behind respected MR 109 and MR 130 horses UNZEN and MAIN DEFENDER. He should be too good for this field if he can reproduce that effort.

Race 6 – 1000m (FM 92 Handicap)
GOLDEN ASPEN has won three races in her last six starts and is in good form. The mare carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and can go close. I believe she represents the EW value in this sprint.

Race 7 – 1000m (MR 80 Handicap)
SECRET CHORD won his maiden and followed up with another impressive win. He could be ahead of the handicapper and is progressive. He has his first run on the Classic track but should have no issues. With some luck, he should run into the placings.

Race 8 – 1000m (FM 74 Handicap)
In the last race of the day, I searched for value and found a lunatic in SMELTING. Her form is not good, but she did run third last time out and can confirm that upturn in form here. She carries just 48kgs, jumps from a good draw and can start well. She has early gate speed, so in this sprint, she could be hard to catch at the finish. I hope she leads around the 400m mark and holds on to sneak a place.
