Tuesday’s horse racing action is available from Gqeberha, with an eight-race program from the Fairview Poly track. Racing begins at 12:20 and includes a competitive Pinnacle Stakes event in Race 7. Fairview Poly Selections
Race 1 – 1200m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)
I think there is some value with DOUBLE TRADE to run well in the opener. She is at the bottom of the betting boards but carries just 53.5kgs. If she gets away well, she can hold on and sneak a top-three finish.

Race 2 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
CONNECTION did not stride out in his last start, so ignore that run. Before that poor run, he had fair form, and I think he bounces back here with the appie claim.

Race 3 – 1600m (Maiden Plate)
I love the value on MAYOR OF MERRIVALE to run another good race in Fairview. The gelding is having his third start in the province and should strip fitter. His last start, when he finished third, was good, and he can build on that and run into the placings again.

Race 4 – 1600m (MR 68 Handicap)
MEETATTHEWINDSOR has fair form, and it is encouraging that Charles Ndlovu takes the ride. The combination has a good record, including a previous win, and I expect them to go close here.

OPERA SWING has top form and ran a good effort in her last start against stronger. She returns to handicap company and can run well despite carrying a hefty mass of 60.5kgs.

Race 6 – 1200m (FM 92 Handicap)
RED SASH has run four good races since relocating to the Eastern Cape. She is taking on much stronger here but carries 53kgs and runs from pole. With some luck in running, she could sneak a place.

Race 7 – 1300m (Pinnacle Stakes)
It is the featured race of the card, and I am taking on the stable elect here. FAIRY KNIGHT is not the stable elect for the Greef yard, but I think he is the horse to beat. On his last run, the jock felt something amiss, so you can ignore that run. Before that race, he had four wins in a row and is still a progressive gelding. I expect him to run into the money.

Race 8 – 1900m (MR 74 Handicap)
The lucky last, betting is wide open, with the favourite priced at 4/1. If you are a form studier, you must think I am crazy for backing ALADO’S PRIDE. Yes, he is way out at the weights and should struggle in this race. However he is in a good space with two wins in his last three races. He will need plenty of luck to even finish in the money, but a horse does not know its odds. I think he can surprise the handicapper and run well despite his hefty mass and poor weight turnarounds against some of his rivals.
