Tuesday’s horse racing action is available from Gauteng, with a nine-race program from the Vaal Main track. Racing begins at 12:10 and includes a competitive MR 96 Handicap event in Race 5. Race 1 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
I like Sean Tarry to upset the Paul Peter party in the opener. LIKE A BUTTERFLY has fair form, and you can ignore her last run. She can find the winner’s box at a big price with some luck in running.

Race 2 – 1500m (Juvenile Plate)
GOLDEN MOMENT won on debut and followed up with an impressive fifth against older and stronger. She is my preferred choice here and can run into the money.

Race 3 – 1200m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)
KOMATI RIVER’s last two runs have been good, and she should shed her maiden soon. It looks like a boat race between her and TAKE YOUR PLACE, and I will back the better odds.

Race 4 – 1200m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)
POTBERRIE showed good improvement in his last start and, if confirmed, can run into the placings. He gets the services of in-form jockey Muzi Yeni, and he can get the best out of the two-year-old.

Race 5 – 1600m (MR 96 Handicap)
PYROMANIAC is much better than his last two starts and can bounce back in handicap company. He is the class horse in this field and shoulders 61.5kgs. Even with that big weight, he should be competitive in this field.

Race 6 – 1600m (FM 87 Handicap)
JULIET TANGO takes a drop in class and can run well. She carries top weight with 61kgs, but she can finish in the money with some luck. At 10/1, she represents excellent EW value in this 1600m event.

SOLO DIVA has okay form and, in this weak race, can return to winning ways. A lot will need to go right for her, but she is weighted to run into the money.

Race 8 – 1700m (Classified Stakes)
BLACKBERRY BREEZE showed signs of a form return last time and ran well. His jockey dropped the crop in the final stages, costing him a place finish. He should run into the top three with better luck against similar-rated rivals.

Race 9 – 1300m (Classified Stakes)
I searched for value in the lucky last and loved the value on AFTER HOURS. On best form, the gelding should be competitive in this field. He has okay form but is not running into the money. With better luck and Smanga Khumalo on board, the combination can give us some EW returns.
