Race 1 – 1000m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)

Fleur De Ville has shown improvement in her last two starts with the blinkers. She is a progressive two-year-old and could have more to come. She finished 2.25 lengths behind the favourite two runs back, and they meet on the same weight terms here. However, she represents excellent EW value to run into the placings.

Suggested Bet – Fleur De Ville EW @ 15/1EW Place

Race 2 – 1200m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)

Double Dash produced a typical debut run; she lost a length at the start and raced green at the finish. She did show enough to merit consideration here. She would have come on from that run, and if running in a straight line, she could fight out the finish.

Suggested Bet – Double Dash EW @ 7/1

Race 3 – 1200m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)

Maritzburg Memory showed natural improvement in her second run. She is a progressive filly, and she can be competitive in this field from a good draw of three. She may need more to challenge for the win, but a place finish is possible.

Suggested Bet – Maritzburg Memory EW @ 9/1EW Win

Race 4 – 1200m (Open Maiden)

It’s an open maiden race, and weight will play a major role. Cliff Swallow has been costly to follow for many, and we looked elsewhere. Lead To Glory is a three-year-old filly with the lowest weight in this race. With just 51.5kgs, she should be competitive despite her wide draw of 14. Her last three starts have been good, and she can finally shed her maiden in this open maiden sprint.

Suggested Bet – Lead To Glory EW @ 5.55/1

Race 5 – 1400m (Open Maiden)

United We Stand has produced some decent runs in her last few races in the Cape. She runs well for jockey Ashton Arries and can be competitive in this field. She carries a handy weight of 55kgs in this open maiden, and from a decent draw of eight, she can produce another finish in the money.

Suggested Bet – United We Stand EW @ 8/1

Race 6 – 1400m (Class 4)

Touchdown’s second-place finish in his last start was impressive, considering he clipped heels at the 1200m mark. The three-year-old gelding gets a good draw of four and has fair form over his last few starts. We like his EW odds, and he should give us a decent run for our money.

Suggested Bet – Touchdown EW @ 8.5/1

Race 7 – 1600m (Cape B Stakes)

Natyam has been rested since his moderate last run in February. His form before that run was impressive, with three wins and 3 seconds from 7 races. He returns to the track after 17 weeks, and if fit, he is a massive player, especially with the 4kg claim.

Suggested Bet – Natyam EW @ 8/1

Race 8 – 1800m (Cape B Stakes)

Two A Penny runs well for Richard Fourie and is in top form. She followed up her hat trick of runs with an impressive third place in her last start. From a good draw of three, with a handy galloping weight of 56kgs, she is the one to beat.

Suggested Bet – Two A Penny to win @ 3/1

Race 9 – 1200m (Class 5)

Seeking Peace has won in Class 5 before, and the booking of Richard Fourie is an eye-catcher. The five-year-old mare has fair form, and from a good draw of four, with only 55.5kgs and a champion jockey on board, she represents the EW value in the race.

Suggested Bet – Seeking Peace EW @ 7/1

Race 10 – 1000m (Cape C Stakes)

Wordsworth was rewarded for his consistent form with a win two races ago. You can ignore his last run, where he took an awkward stride at the 100m mark and lost his rhythm. He is getting up in age now at six and is taking on some younger horses, but he is a hard knocker. Richard Fourie decided to stay on with the horse, and the combo can find the winner’s enclosure in the lucky last.

Suggested Bet – Wordsworth EW @ 6/1
