Wednesday’s horse racing action is available from KZN, with an eight-race program from the Greyville Turf track. Racing begins at 12:25 and includes a competitive MR 96 Handicap event in Race 6. Race 1 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
It is a tough race to open the cards, and many horses have winning chances. I searched for value and found MAGIC MAVERICK. The filly is having her first run for her new stable, but if fit, she should run well. Before she changed stables, she had decent form and, with some luck, could finish in the money here.

Race 2 – 1600m (Maiden Plate)
VIEW OF THE WORLD is having his peak run and carries just 53kgs. He can challenge the short favourite, INDUSTRIALSTRENGTH, with some luck and fill out the exacta.

Race 3 – 1600m (FM 72 Handicap)
SPRING KISS has top form and ran well against stronger. She takes a drop in class and can run well despite carrying 60kgs. With two wins and two places in her last four starts, I expect her to run into the money again.

Race 4 – 1600m (MR 84 Handicap)
EL DANTE produced a good comeback run and should strip fitter. He is getting older now, but the seven-year-old still loves his racing. He should finish in the placings if he can confirm his last start.

Race 5 – 2000m (FM 79 Handicap)
PETIT VERDOT has continued to drop in the ratings and now runs off a competitive mark. She has consistent form and should run well from a pole draw. She will love the 2000m and represents the EW value in this race.

Race 6 – 1400m (MR 96 Handicap)
The featured race of the card and SHAMPOMPO SHAMPIZI is too big in the market. The seven-year-old is rated MR 96 and has decent form. He has had two wins in his last five races, took on much stronger last time, and was not disgraced. He is the value runner in this race and, at 16/1, represents massive EW value.

Race 7 – 1200m (MR 88 Handicap)
I am taking a chance on a horse coming off a four-month break. Before his well-deserved rest, RODRIGUEZ had top form and was rewarded for his consistency with a win. He returns to racing after a 16-week break, and if not in need of this run, he can go close. He is carded to race with 52kgs and is a lurker in this field.
